I've always resisted the turn to create as much torque as possible, I'll try that method though to stop the pain, danger of not turning properly or leaving the weight on the left side though but I'll have a bash, cheers.
There is no such thing as torque, it's a myth, a figure of speech if you will. Our bodies are made up of pivots (joints) and levers (bones) there's not one piece of our bodies that is elastic, we are not springs. If you bend your elbow it has no real inclination to unbend, if you twist your arm it will unbend (just about) but not with any force, it almost has a dampening effect as the muscles on the opposing side relax. You can't stretch or compact your bones so if you are resisting a movement (eg a hip turn) you are gaining nothing apart from pain whilst losing out on the leverage you should/could be creating.
