Rorys secret power move.

I've always resisted the turn to create as much torque as possible, I'll try that method though to stop the pain, danger of not turning properly or leaving the weight on the left side though but I'll have a bash, cheers.

There is no such thing as torque, it's a myth, a figure of speech if you will. Our bodies are made up of pivots (joints) and levers (bones) there's not one piece of our bodies that is elastic, we are not springs. If you bend your elbow it has no real inclination to unbend, if you twist your arm it will unbend (just about) but not with any force, it almost has a dampening effect as the muscles on the opposing side relax. You can't stretch or compact your bones so if you are resisting a movement (eg a hip turn) you are gaining nothing apart from pain whilst losing out on the leverage you should/could be creating.

Maybe what they mean is that if you create as much separation as possible between your hips and shoulders, that your shoulders will have no choice but to follow the hips round when they move to the left in the downswing because the muscles are already stretched as far as they will go.

I'm not saying that's a good answer/reason, just playing devil's advocate.

That's another myth Gary, the whole x-factor thing has been disproved (I read the guy who 'invented it' doesn't even talk about it any more)... your arms need to remain more in sync with the swing otherwise you arms never catch up and you lose power whilst they drag behind. It's why firing the hips open doesn't work, which in turn is why the whole 'Rory's power move' is also wrong... that's not where he gets his power from.. it's just a result of the other things he is doing.
