Rory McIlroy Biography

Am I the only one who gets a bit frustrated at this. He is in his early 20s and has just started his career. To me this is fat too early to be going down the biography route. Biographies used to be written at the end of a distinguished career but it now seems that some people write a new one every year (footballers especially) and write them before they have actually achieved much.

I used to love to read a good biography but, like many things, they appear to have simply become another Xmas cash cow.

Sorry, rant over.

no i agree with you to a certain extent.i thought this after jorge lorenzo released his after i think 1 full season riding the gp bikes.i like rory that much though i think it will be a great read and would look forward to later releases aswell which i'm sure there will be.

I dont mind too much as I am interested in what it has taken to get to the point he is at now and at £10 I think its well worth a read. I also paid £19 for David Hayes Biography and I know how thats going to end.... Him losing lol

yeah totally,it's good knowing what he had done and needed to do to get where he is.i like how he was off +5.4 when he turned pro and was off +6 for a while aswell....great stuff!!!!

I'm up to chapter 8 (Just Champion) which as you say its about how he got to where he is now from his younger days, quite enjoying it.

Totally agree, he has another 20 years potentially as a top level golfer, why an autobiography now?

I am also of the opinion that he should leave off this untill he has a few more years under his belt. Will we have a 'Rory, My life 2012' next year, getting as bad as Pings irons. I know it sounds a little cynical but I expect the book was written by a ghost Writer as well.

I would say probably as he has had a very busy life up until now, he has been round the world since he was quite young, this past year really has been a story in itself too.
Maybe it is best to publish every few years while the memories and fame are still red hot? Would you go out and buy Larry Mizes autobiography now?
Some people live more in a decade than the rest of us manage in a lifetime, should we really complain when it gives us an insight not shown on tv or in the mags?

You do make a fair point and I agree we all want to hear the stories on tour etc but a Biography? Maybe it's the wording of the title that's all that is wrong.

He's only a kid, is it going to be like Harry Potter where the latest edition comes out every few years with films and video games to follow?

Time will tell I suppose, I wouldn't jump on him for one book just yet though. That could have been a money maker for his management company to get him more exposure, you never know.

Well it is aimed at his fans as is every biography so im sure his fans will enjoy it and appreciate reading it, I will for sure.

If a documentry on his life up until now was televised im sure we would all watch it would we not?

the key is that it is a biography not an autobiography. Rory may have had nothing to do with the publication.

It could just be the author cashing in. Look at the other books the author has written, it looks like he specialises in unauthorized biographies.

I think I know how this goes...

born in northern ireland, lived in holywood. Played golf since I could walk. was really good as a junior and won loads. Went pro and had a slow start and threw away a few tournaments. Won a few and played in the Ryder Cup (which btw was AWESOME) and then won the US Open (again, AWESOME). Dating a tennis star and we might get married one day and have kiddies. I want to be world number 1, win more majors and play more Ryder Cups but that will be in books 2, 3, 4 and 5 at this rate. Am I close? I love Rory and think he is a brilliant player who will be world number 1 and win loads of majors and play more Ryder Cups but an autobiography at his age is a bit too soon for my liking
