Absolutely correct. O'Sullivan is a craftsman and sport in general is all the better for it. Who would rather watch Murray (an excellent player, no doubt) over Federer - there is nothing better in sport than watching a sportsman with natural ability, guile and intelligence.
As for snooker being a hyped up pub game, I would suggest it takes the same level of dedication to get to the top of the game as golf. And I've certainly seen a lot more unshapely, unsporting characters in golf than I have in snooker!
