Hasn't he retired a number of times already ( thought he was in a period of retiring at the moment )

Slag of the people that run the game and the sponsers that provide the money he earns

Disrespect a few of his fellow competitors

Certainly seems to act like a bit of prat

Alex Higgins?

Absolute genius. Not surprised to see some have a go at him, that's what this forum has become of late. Sport is better with characters like him.

Have to agree if these type of personalities were not about what would we talk about. Anyway demolished Selby yesterday and when focus Ronnie is in a class of his own. If he had Hendry or Davis mental strength and commitment I shudder to think what he would have won.

Personalities are fine and every sport needs them without a doubt , but RoS has a disrespectful way of going on , its just when he is interviewed even after winning it just seems a chore to him , sure he took snooker on a level and made it better to watch and quiet possibly easier to get sponsorship for tournaments he is in ,

but snooker was there before him and it will be there after him so he needs to respect that and IMO be more thankful for the living & standard of living it has given him in return for his input

Higgins was the same an arrogant (insert word of choice) ,

Its not right to compare players from different eras when they was at the top of their game.
Davis in the 80s and Ronnie in the 2000s onwards its 20 30 years difference

Like most sports its evolved new tables ect i think people are just better players now

Snooker - emmmm another bar room sport similar to darts perhaps but mildly more dull... RoS what a chopper he has been really -how wound up in his own importance can a man be? And god how sorry for himself is he...didums...:( weve all had a tough life... but he seems to forget this as he orders another £100k AMG Merc etc etc .... So his dad did time.... at least he's got one!!! Yes I think he is talented of course but again if you want to be a true professional in your sport, its about how you handle, present and project yourself to the public as well just having the talent in the game. IMO of course. This then defines the true nature and professionalism of the man or you just end be being another cheap, sullen, pikey muppet. Steve Davis for me was a real pro in this sport if it should be called that...

Some of the stuff he says does get tiresome.

But he is still easily the the most gifted player there has ever been.

in your opinion in your era that you have seen

thats an opinoin shared by many of his peers. not just me.

Ive been watching for a while, who would you put forward?

except for the highlighted bit i agree

An inability to control the muscles that drive a fine motor skill, such as putting in golf, or cueing in snooker. Can also affect musicians, especially pianists and guitar players. This is a recognized medical condition called Focal Dystonia. :)

So, do they need to make the pockets a bit bigger...?

I've played snooker to a pretty high level (many pro-ams years ago) and watching Ronnie when in full flow... for me there's nothing like it. It's poetry in motion... nobody else makes it look so easy, so flowing... it's beautiful. I can't think of any other sports pro in any other sport where I could say the same.

I know he's done some disrespectful stuff in the past, but sometimes he just speaks his mind when others are scared to. He may sometimes be an arrogant sod, but he has a flip side too... does anyone remember how he comforted Ding after (easily) beating him in the masters final?
