Hi all,

So on the Taylor Made web page we are told that the Rocket Balls 3 wood is 17 yards longer, quite a claim I would say. However its not true and in the small print it tells us that you need to hit a certain ball speed to gain the extra 17 yards.

Here is the add: http://www.taylormadegolf.com/products/fairways/rocketballz-fairway

And here is the proof that it is a lie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjFPLKXhDEU&feature=share

A great little video where Mark Crossfield puts the Burner 2.0 up against the RBZ with Trackman tells the real story.

Well of course its marketing speak, its never going to give everyone 17yrds, thats what they found with certain staff players! Its got people talking about them and trying them out though! I was at the range yesterday, and got chatting to a senior guy that just bought the RBZ 3 and 5w, he seemed to think they gave him 20 yards+ on his old ones! (no idea what his old clubs were) Its just marketing, its up to you as a descerning consumer whether you take it on face value or have a think about the claim..

Indeed it's never going to give everyone the same gains, if you take it to the extreme someone that could only hit a Burner 2.0 17yards is not going to double their distance with the RBZ.

as one of the pros said recently, if they added up all the extra yards the clubs claim to add to the previous model theyd be hitting it 1000 yards by now

I hit it and it wasn't longer than my 910f I compared it too!

Fact.

It's a very good club but TaylorMade have gone over the top on the marketing. The yardage gains can be put down to the large head inspiring confidence and the 0.5 to 1 degree lower loft compared to most normal 3 Woods.

Ill bet that if i put my i15 3 Wood in the same players hands that hits that RBZ that the i15 would nudge it....

Ill never get rid of mine unless i break it and even then ill replace it again with the same....They are stupid long with a great flight.....

Also what good is distance to you....There are so many factors that varies it....Hell if i hit a Pinnacle or a Top Fllite rock with most three woods then the chances are that supposed 17 yard gain with the RBZ would be airmailed.......

Like i said in my post yesterday.....Manufacturers think that the majority of players are Naive and Gullible......

Ill stick with my Pings thank you!

Well I can only go by the evidence at Wentworth, all three of us were hitting the new TM stuff noticeably further, the drivers wernt much longer but the woods were. christ, I was duck hooking the rbz stock stiff shaft 240, it never climbed above 40 feet in the air. The R11s fw went further too, 16 yards or so further from off the deck.

DJ got 17 yards extra when he tried the RBZ.
Simple as that.
If I tried it, I might get a few more, I might get a few less, I certainly wont get 17!

But they can make this claim as DJ gained the extra yardage - anyone who thinks they will automatically get that extra too can buy TaylorMade until the Cows come home.

as thecraw knows its horses for course, ive only started my journey into this crazy world of chopping changing every so often. my new clubs are an improvement from the previous pair. i didnt buy them cause the go longer straighter etc. i know its all about the ethan sorry the shaft. i felt a difference in my new shafts slightly stiffer or i should say heavier. but i have to say ive definetly got the bug again for golf im loving it and in the process of joing a proper golf course. also ive seen thecraw hit his new driver and i liked what i saw. Jap clubs are far better than the mass marketed stuff we all use, imo
