Wasn't he the guy that forced the government to U-turn on closing the Clyde shipyards. Not many of those old school union guys around these days but I got the feeling he had the welfare of his members at the front of his mind at all times unlike most of todays who seem hellbent on striking and seeking confrontation whatever the outcome
Wouldn't dream of clashing swords with a champion of the people!
When I read all about the man in the paper today, I take my hat off to him, a union man with spirit, guts and fight, not like the toothless tigers you get today.
