I used to play with a fella who played off 4 and never used he's driver, he used a Mizuno 13 deg 3 wood and consistantly hit it straight but every time he tee'd it up with the big dog hit a huge slice.Dont be afraid to just use your 3 wood, remember what Seve said its not how but how many

try an adams xtd 15 super hybrid. I didn't know or believe people when they said a certain club was "hot". after hitting this I know exactly what they mean.

ive left the driver out of the bag quite a bit in the last month as this club just goes. it has low spin so it gets great run too. its at worst 10-15 short of my sunday best drive. it just hits the fairway a hell of a lot more.

Just read some reviews of the xtd, - sounds like a cannon !

The TM RBZ Stage 2 3 wood is good candidate too.......

It's not usual to have a 'woods' swing and an 'irons' swing. If you hit irons better, perhaps try long irons off the tee, such as a 2iron you can get from Callaway, Mizuno and I think Titleist?

My top 3 favourite clubs to hit:

1. Driver
2. Putter
3. Lob Wedge

The best 3 clubs I hit:

1. Sand wedge (off fairway)
2. 4 hybrid
3. 7 iron

The day I realise that I'm "better off" not hitting a driver is the day I give this game up.

If the rest of the bag is behaving then surely a full swing rebuild isn't necessary to just get the driver working and if the pro suggests anything like that go and find another pro. I'm sure it is something simple like ball position, swinging too hard or coming over the top and a good pro will spot it and give you a fix and some drills. Got to be cheaper than a new driver and gives you more options for playing the long par fours

Funnily enough, I have a 2 iron - came included with my Titleist CB's.....and I put it in the bag last nt to try again,
(you can see how desperate I am !!)
Went down the middle, but only perhaps 225, so no better than my 3 wood, and in all honesty, your game has to be 'on' to get a 2 iron right every time ! I wouldnt wanna pull it on from the 1st in a Medal thats for sure.......
