Today a group of us went and played Lydd Golf Club, Kent.

Our numbers were made up of group 1 - Leftie, Mawgan & John (lefties pal), group 2 - Myself, HTL & Smudge and group 3 - Captgray, MVP & Chippie.

The rain we had been dreading failed to show however conditions were hard as a steady 25knot wind with big occasional gusts was ever-present, only adding to the challenge of a tight course, with plenty of water and other hazzards.

To the golf, In my group there were some wonderful shots played, Smudge is an awesome ball-striker and hits great shots from the fairway, rough and bunkers and has a great short-game. HTL was an animal with his driver today, he hit one drive 330yds today, I kid you not, Hywel, get that big-dog out more mate. As for me, I was generally pleased with my game having had a long lay-off.

We found conditions for scoring very difficult, the ground was very hard so there was zero check on the greens and shots pitching 20yds short, were often going through the back.

Prizes today were nearest pin, which was won by MVP, Long-Drive which was won by chippie.

The overall winner of the individual stableford (and £40, cheers lads) was myself with 33 points.

My personal highlights were a couple of bombing drives, a great long putt at the last and a consistent score with only 2 blobs.

A great day out, thanks to everyone for turning out for this meet, nice to meet everyone and also thanks to lydd for providing a great breakfast and a nice track all for £25 each!

Good fair report fella. I got done good and proper by the course and weather today. I have never played a harder 9 holes than the first half.

Your forgot to mention COYS!

hha
good right up jon

Thanks for organising the day! great to see the forum lads it was a fun day. looking forward to the next one for sure!

Just about to get on the magners now so if my next post makes no sense you know why!!

Great day MWJ and thanks for organising it.

And today's winner (again) was playing off WHAT :o :o :o :o :o h/cap??? I don't know how you can take the money without at least blushing. I think that you should offer to cut yourseld for future GM meets to, say 18, for a start.

Seriously though mate, well played. It was tough out there today. As usual, a great bunch of lads.

Still didnt play to my h/cap though!

I think I have a bit of an advantage having played a fair bit of links and having a links golfer from musselburgh as a pro!

Means I am quite adept at playing punchy low-flyers that run on forever, my pro gave me a few lessons on this aspect of shot-making alone, particularly useful yesterday as it takes the wind out of play to a big extent.

Didnt putt well yesterday, plenty of 3-putts, I know what you mean about the h/cap, I think if I can get plenty of golf in over the summer and play a few comps it should come down quickly as in the whole, considering I had a lay-off, I was in good shape.

Can I just add that HTL and I witnessed Smudge, hitting a driver off the fairway, that was amazing and must take a whole heap of skill to do that!

Looking forward to the next meet-up already!

Still didnt play to my h/cap though!

None of us did mate. The nearest to you was 31 points from a 10 h/capper and the rest were struggling in the 20's.

The course and conditions were tough and you came in with possibly 10 points above the average. Based on your previous performances and this one I think a Forum cut of 10 shots is very reasonable. I feel sorry for your poor horse.... :D :D :D

I you do another one, give me a shout. I quite fancy a go, especially given the scores.

Joke, guys, Joke.

Hmm, any chance of a trophy?
