Tour Winner
Today a group of us went and played Lydd Golf Club, Kent.
Our numbers were made up of group 1 - Leftie, Mawgan & John (lefties pal), group 2 - Myself, HTL & Smudge and group 3 - Captgray, MVP & Chippie.
The rain we had been dreading failed to show however conditions were hard as a steady 25knot wind with big occasional gusts was ever-present, only adding to the challenge of a tight course, with plenty of water and other hazzards.
To the golf, In my group there were some wonderful shots played, Smudge is an awesome ball-striker and hits great shots from the fairway, rough and bunkers and has a great short-game. HTL was an animal with his driver today, he hit one drive 330yds today, I kid you not, Hywel, get that big-dog out more mate. As for me, I was generally pleased with my game having had a long lay-off.
We found conditions for scoring very difficult, the ground was very hard so there was zero check on the greens and shots pitching 20yds short, were often going through the back.
Prizes today were nearest pin, which was won by MVP, Long-Drive which was won by chippie.
The overall winner of the individual stableford (and £40, cheers lads) was myself with 33 points.
My personal highlights were a couple of bombing drives, a great long putt at the last and a consistent score with only 2 blobs.
A great day out, thanks to everyone for turning out for this meet, nice to meet everyone and also thanks to lydd for providing a great breakfast and a nice track all for £25 each!
