Ive just ordered myself new grips from Gamola, which unfortunately means the dreaded task of removing my old grips and then trying to get the old tape off, which going from previous experience is a pain in the backside!

Therefore, has anyone got any magic tips for removing the old tape from the shaft? Any magic potions?

Cheers :D

Yea bob - I bet your going to suggest something dead obvious now arnt you, that will make me think 'Now why didnt I think of that, doh!' :D

Dip them in acid or
Burn them off with a blow torch or
Dip them in a bottle of white spirit/turps and leave to soak for a few minutes and scrape off with a stanley knife if stubborn.

Got one of the pros where HID works to do my 3 & 5 wood, 3 hybrid, 4-PW with Golf Pride Tour velvets - two layers of tape - £40 for 10 clubs including stripping the old ones and labour. Thought that was more than reasonable

Well can I just say that last night I found the best way of removing the old tape. Forget the white spirits, forget the blow torch (the Mrs wouldnt let me use it anyway), ive came accross an even better method.

The trick is to wait until it's nearly the 10 yr old girls bed time, then suggest that if she helps remove the tape off all the clubs she can stay up a bit later while doing so :D. Once they get started they become that engrossed in what they are doing that you can even sneakily remove the TV remote from their possession and turn Hannah Montana over to the golf without her even realising. Happy days :D
