We noticed today that there were flags at Warrington that appeared to have little reflectors on the top of the flag stick, there seemed to be three at different angles. We wondered if they were to help laser measuring devices.

As anyone else come across these?

Camberly Heath also has them and believe they are to help with using laser

In 2001 I went to LA and played a course called Shady Canyon that had these flags on the practise ground and next to your pyramid of Titliest balls was a box that had a laser that bounced off the reflectors to get your yardage. Each practise station had a range finder. Just an immense set up. But I've not seen them in the UK tho.

We have them at our courses. They are like small prism reflectors set in the top of the flagstick that bounce the laser beam back to you from whatever angle.

The biggest problem with them is when people take the stick out allow it to fall on to the ground and the reflector can be dislodged. Can work out a bit expensive over the course of a year to keep replacing them.

Correct. If you use a laser, you will see a marked improvement in the time it takes to get the distance if they are present.

I have seen them in the flag sticks and in the nuts that hold the flag on.

I've seen the nut that hold the flag too Anthony - he's got a moustache I think
