So was waiting for Richart to start a post as a fan, but what are you thoughts on McDermott going? i think its been a long time coming unfortunately, he seems like a nice guy but they have not had the best run this season, they have lost or drawn a number of games they should have won..

who would you like to see replace Brian? early favs are Di Canio (good shout), Di Matteo (not sure), Adkins (good shout, shouldn't have been sacked by Saints IMHO), Advocaat (wont happen IMHO)

I think owners of clubs are too impatient and the manager is the easiest guy to blame, what about the 11 guys (plus subs) who play on a saturday? dock their wages i say for under performing.

While not a Reading "fan" they are my local team and i keep a keen eye on them, (Bro IL is a season ticket holder) and hope they can live to fight another day!

Why now? Is the question I'd ask..
9 games to go - unless the Reading board have resigned themselves to the Championship next year..
27 points at stake and they sack the Manager who got them there in the first place, plenty of time to get safe..
Have they given him enough cash to splash? I don't know but bringing in a new Manager now won't solve the problem of relegation.
I'd have given him a chance to get them out of the mire and sacked him in the Summer, giving the New Guy a month or 2 to mould a team to get back up again.....
Sacking him now is more likely to lead to relegation than survival in my opinion...

Perhaps they’ve seen the effect bringing back an old manager can have like Forest did with Billy D and are bringing Steve Coppell back in?! :D

In all seriousness, Adkins would be an awesome acquisition.

I am in mourning:(. Ridiculous decision, awful timing. Look at the money the other teams down the bottom have spent, and look what we have spent.

McDermott was on borrowed time as soon as Anton the Russian took over. The likelihood is we will get relegated, and who knows the Championship better than Brian. First season there he saved us from relegation, second season got us to the play off final, and third season got us promoted as champions.

Horrible feeling Di Canio will get the job, with absolutely no managerial experience outside the first and second division. Hopefully any manager that does take on the job will insist that decent money is released for transfers. Nigel Adkins would seem a good to fit for Reading, and could start immediately.

Thanks Brian for some of the best times I have known at a Club I have supported since the the 60's.

Have to agree with all this ^^^^ seems a strange decision

I think they got a shock when they were promoted and had not planned for it.
Brave effort all the same, makes no sense to sack the manager.
Start praying it is not Di Canio, I think he will ruin you.

Lots of Reading fans at the club and in the hospital and the consensus seems to be he'd lost the dressing room a touch and some of the injuries were actually him petulantly dropping those who'd had a pop. No idea how accurate that is but heard it from several different sources. I think the defeat to one of their nearest rivals for relegation and the performance before that at home to Wigan along with the fans beginning to turn forced the boards hand. De Cannio was there in the directors box on Saturday which seems convenient. I think Adkins would be a great choice. I think he is a very good manager and he is use to building a good young side with not much money about and so if Reading go down as seems likely he can start to build the new generation

That's the crazy thing though Martin, the owner has more cash than the nhs! He just has not spent any!
I think his father has all the cash !!

In the year or so he has been at the club he has so far made a huge profit, courtesy of our promotion. When his bid was accepted we did not look like going up, so he paid the going rate for a Championship club. With all the Sky money, including likely parachute payments, we will be one of the richest clubs in the championship ever. Would not surprise me if he tries to sell up if we go down and do not look likely to go straight back up.
