Following on from a few comments on previous threads about the increased yardage potentially causes gap problems, I have just seen that Dustin Johnson has changed to a 4 wood rather than 3 as he was hitting it too far.

he could on some courses not even bother using the driver and use the 3 wood for overall better accuracy.

the new r11s looks good with even more adjustment.bet its expensive though.

This is the problem I don't want.
Unless the RBZ 3 wood is as long as my driver - lets assume it isn't for now - I don't want to be getting more yards from the 3 wood and opening a gap in my yardages which may mean changing/tinkering with clubs/lofts to get things back on track.
If it is as long as a driver then it would need to be as accurate, if it is then drop the driver and find a space for another club somewhere.....
Ideally I'll just win a place on the Ping Fit and let them sort me out.........

Easy fix Ian, buy the whole Rocketballz range then :D, even the putter goes a country mile!
Seriously though, I wouldnt see a slight gap as being a problem as a handicapper.
Knowing that on some shorter par 4s I can take out a lot of danger from the tees and not sacrifice much distance is refreshing. Knowing there is a small gap to the driver but a slightly larger one to my 5, again not a problem. If I wanted to take a little off the 3wood, so be it but to be honest, very rarely do I ever need my 3wood from the fairway.

I agree that that gap would be a little too big. There would be a big gap between the 3 wood and my 3 iron or 3 hybrid if I had selected the Rocketballz. I find it hard to 'take some off' of a 3 wood and putting 110% into an iron or hybrid isnt good for me either. So having a 3 wood that goes as long as a driver would just leave a massive gap for long par 4s or short par 5s. Therefore I think the R11s would be better.

I can completely understand where the RBZ fits in the TM range though. Those who need the distance give it a go but those who dont stick to the shorter 3 woods. IMO

Planning to hit the RBZ at the weekend to see what the fuss is about although judging how far it goes and comparing it to my current set up is out of the question in the snow and the ice. I just want to see if it feels "right" off the face. The R11 last year and the Superfast both felt rubbish at impact

If it goes as well as my V Steel then I might consider an upgrade.
