RBZ 3 wood.... forgiving????

Hey all,
Recently tried out and purchased the RBZ 3 wood, first new club i've bought in years, i use my 3 wood off the tee generally as i struggle to hit a driver, ive been using a Callaway Big Bertha II 3 wood and hit it pretty damn well most of the time but i fancied something newer, hence the RBZ.

Point of my post is that has anyone else experience just how un-forgiving the RBZ is when hit even slightly out of the heel, i'm fining it creates a really penal horrible slice, which is not my standard shape, even had a lesson last week and my coach said my swings didnt deserve the shots that were coming off the face.

Just wondered if anyone else was experiencing the same as im on the verge of going back to my old fairways now!

Had a hit with one and found it forgiving to be honest. They are aimed at the average Golfer so should be o.k. Have you tried another one?

Did you get the right shaft for your swing? I've got one and if I really go for it my swing goes out to in anyway and gives me a bad slice, but as long as I'm swinging normal I'd have pretty positive results. It does tend to fade a little. But if I slice it really bad, I can usually tell why.

Love the black face on it too - dead easy to tell just where you caught the ball!

Thats what i had read and what appeared to be the case when i tried it out.
Must admit to being a little confused, i'll give it another work out at the range and if it doesnt improve i think i'll have to change it or get rid.

Have you got the TP Tour version?

TaylorMade TP kit is notoriously more tricky to use than standard versions....

I'd have thought the RBZ would be as forgiving as it comes with the huge head...

I found it a lot easier to hit than the Calloway Hawk I tested at the same time. The face seemed quite a bit larger and easier to hit off the deck too.

I tried the RBZ last week against the Ping i20,found it more forgiving than the ping to be honest.Standard flex shaft was the best option.
Have to say that the sound of the ping was much nicer.:mmm:

going to make a huge assumption but your existing wood's swing weight and shaft are going to be very different from the club you have now got. the differences will be as if you have moved from a standard shaft to an X IMO. It's almost certainly longer as well.

you will have got used to the existing one - you should benefit significantly in spending the time, and energy, to get used to the new one.

I found the new TM woods rely heavily on the shaft fitting your swing characteristics. The light rbz shafts made my shots low and hooky. The heavier shafts I tested on the R11S 3 wood went great, as I said on another thread, it is my favorite club in my bag now as it is so consistent.

i found the rbz to be very forgiving i managed to play a round with it quite well, wasn't to keen on it off the deck but then many 3 woods i have the same problem

if you do decide on another one the r11 is what i went for and its a weapon to say the least

Hmm, my thought proses was that TM like to make there shafts a little longer to keep with the hype that the ball goes longer. If you are missing in the heel and the club is half an inch longer that may be all it is. I don't think may clubs are forgiving in that aria as the shaft and the necessary bends in the head to fit the shaft are there.


Just a thought, you know how golf is a game of many small things....

As I said earlier I had to have my Burner shaft cut down in size. I suspect the shaft in the RBZ will be way to long as well

Went for a fitting session last week. Was stunned how easy it is to hit off the deck compared to my Ping G10 3 wood. Very forgiving, and way longer.

Never had a problem with it. If your only reason for buying was because you wanted a change then go back to the old club. Something that is "very very" and "negligible" is not worth the change ... Or the cash outlay.

The whole RBZ range has slightly shorter shafts than "TM" standard - so they should be around "normal" length.
I've tried the RBZ 3 wood at AG and tried Rick's on a range - great results.
If I could get my head around the colour it would be in the bag.

I tried it the other day at the range. Never been a fan of Taylormade gear at all in the past but this club is seriously long. Shaft the same length as my G15 3 wood but it goes as far as my driver. It appears to be really 'hot' off the face. I have always laughed at new kit offering 'another 10,20 or 30 yards' but this thing does. Very impressed.
