I am sure there plenty of people here who struggle with the face closing over too quickly, pulling or hooking shots. You see slow motion video of the worlds best players and their clubface is square to the target in and around impact for what seems like an eternity.

When I had a driver lesson the pro froze the screen as was coming into impact and the face was dead shut. Super closed. I have a tendency to reach in my posture and would have my left arm well straightened out around impact.

For the love of god, fast forward the first 20 seconds of this video but watch the rest. I nearly didn't bother after watching the start. He is like the American Crossfield .

Anyway the video talks abut having a bend in the left arm at impact. Plenty of video evidence from a range of top pros.

Ive had a few swings on the front room with a 7 iron. I can certainly feel a lot less face rotation whilst trying to keep some bend at impact.

I am always looking for that golden nugget to help my swing and I can feel it in my bones this time.

Thoughts?

I struggle with hooks and a closed club face. But part of me thinks that no one has their arm completely straight at impact do they? And in some of the examples from the pros the bend was negligible and I'd say something that has to happen in order for you to hit the ball.

I'd possibly like to try it but I suspect it would just add to the plethora of swing thoughts I already have. But hey it if works and it is more a thought than what actually happens in reality then fair play.

This is what its doing for me. Only thing I am doing different is a softening of the left arm at address. taking the tension out of the left arm.

The issues this guy speaks about is me in a nut shell.

Oh boy, now i'm confused. I knew I shouldn't have looked.

I know what you mean. Give me a good pro breaking it down simply based on my own swing and sorting my out ball by ball. For me, I tend to pull/hook shorter irons more than longer clubs. I tend to get lazy with my body turn. There is some OK stuff in the videos (and I should have skipped the opening part of the OP's one... my ears) but I've never been a fan of online tuition. Again that's just my own preference

As if by magic this arrived on golfwrx yesterday to back up what I have stumbled upon this week.

Tension causing the club face to shut. I've been hitting a pile of balls at home with great success.

Small swing thought of a slight bend in the left arm at address like Westwood. Takes all the tension out.

Can't wait to take this to the course. Been a while since I've had a light bulb moment.
