What a great twist in the tale.....they died for what??!!

Will they get a star for today's win I wonder?

Loving the fact that 99% of them are seeing this as innocence when in reality it has nothing to do with the allegations of cheating.

Dodger It has nothing to do with allegations of cheating?

Where does today's result leave "The Financial doping for players they can't afford"

Also re the side letters, SPL rules states that all contracted payments must be registered with them, but todays FTT ruling clearly states the payments were loans and non-contractual. Therefore they don't have to be registered with the SPL under there current rules

I will say that today's result is not part of the SPL investigation but it does not give the SPL much room to move on this

As for the EBT's the FTT states they are loans and can be repaid (as are all EBT schemes) but a company that finances the scheme never really asks for them to be repaid. In this case it could well be different as the the liquidators are now in charge and have the power to ask for them to be repaid to pay off the creditors. Despite what has been stated earlier that they have to repaid no decision has been made yet by the liquidators

Only seen the highlights and it looked to be back to the usual slow start away from home again.

You were right in saying we went through all this for what. If we had the results six months ago there probably would have been other buyers or Murray might not have even sold.

One funny thing is that if Whyte paid tax he would be sitting on cash pile worth much more than the few million he syphoned away and tax he didnt pay

Murray appears to have shat it and jumped ship 100% certain that the outcome was a loss.Joking aside Stuart it has been one sorry mess from start to finish and a lot of questions remain unanswered....

Were their 2nd contracts not disclosed to SFA, and do they count as they were only "loans"?

By all accounts they were not disclosed to the SFA. Interesting excerpt from the decision. "Thereafter, evidence was taken from Mr Grey, a solicitor who for some years has speciailised in football agency work and sports law.....Included in his clients are several Rangers personnel, in particular Mr Violet, Mr Purple and Mr Cardiff. He lectures in sports/football law in Scotland at a university level. By way of qualification he indicated that this specialist expertise did not extend to the tax treatment of benefits from remuneration trusts.

Mr Grey confirmed that the Scottish Football Association requires disclosure of the terms of a footballer's contract but that does not extend, as he understands, to payments from the remuneration trust. While payments from the player's Club must be disclosed, including benefits in kind such as cars and accommodation, benefits from Third Parties, such as a sports company, need not. However, there is no formal SFA ruling in respect of remuneration trust benefits."

Who knows what the next finding will be but it's fair to say RFC have gained very little from this whole pantomime bar wiping away a fair bit of debt.

Oh and for the poster who is greetin about the use of the word "manky"....really?? Just make sure your Mum packs your pieces for lunch today eh?

From that it reads to me that the SPL never really had a case in the first place or that at worst case their case was wholly dependant on the FTT declaring that the EBT’s were used as a vehicle to make contracted payments.

For the SPL and SFA to demand that RFC agree to stripping of titles in the original 5 point agreement on Licence transfer before the FTT findings were known quite frankly stinks.

It also appears from the BBC report last night that any money repayable from the loans goes back to the trust and not the Oldco. Neil Patey stated that most of the loans are repayable on death and the trust then makes payments to the benefactor which would probably be the players family. Basically the money just goes round in one big loop.

Looks like the liquidators can’t get much back at all.

As for Murray I don't think we will ever know if it was him or the bank who jumped ship. Murray always said that he would get a favorable outcome , whether that was just his usual public bluster I don't know but the bank were in control of his businesses at the time and they could have been spooked at the thought of being another £70+ million in the hole.

Stuart im of the belief that this big tax case had no bearing on why Murray sold up or why Whyte did what he did.

Kind of agree with you there mate as Murray had been looking to sell for a while but the BTC made made the club unsellable to most potential buyers with any amount of sense.

Once the potential liability figure was delivered by HMRC the only type of buyer interested was one like Wyte.

Agree the BTC had no bearing on Whyte. He done what he has always done.

Quick one Stuart,I have maybe missed Chuck going back on what he said but where do you see your team playing if you are not going to play in the top flight during Chucks reign? It puzzles me as he says he's here til he hears the Champions League music blasting out in the stadium.

Serious question by the way!

Green has said he will go to the fans if/when we gain entry to the SPL. If the fans want it he would not stand in their way but he said he will resign as CE

He also stated that he wants to hear the champoins league tune at ibrox while he is still there.

The solution is simple, get Celtic to turn the volume up when the tune is played at parkhead on the 5th December and he can hear it at ibrox
