Played last night. Man, our course needs some rain. Fairways bone dry, rough burning back. Even though we water the greens, some of them are starting to get a bit too brown for their own good. Everything is well kept and tidy, it just needs rain !!

This is deepest Hertfordshire btw. Taking it as read that every course in Scotland is a bit damp, where is the north/south or east/west divide located at which the optimum course conditions can be found??

Out course is very firm and bouncy too great if on line and a true bounce. In the wind last week it was very tough off line you are dead......

I'm the opposite. I want it to stop raining. Current state of play on my course in Glasgow, Scotland. It's rained here everyday for as many weeks as I can remember now. Last good spell was in April/May.

Be careful what you wish for. I'd kill for a hard fairway now.

I want it to stop raining as we are heading to Formby Hall on Sunday and Monday. Was hoping for shorts weather but looking like waterproofs!!

My course is parched on the fairways and the rough is now long and deep in places. Greens are holding up nicely and looking good ahead of club champs at the weekend. Forecast is for plenty of rain Friday and heavy showers at the weekend. Not ideal but some of the fairways need it

All golf courses in northern Ireland are soft. It really is a novelty to me now. I am used to baked fairways and greens in Liverpool.

Enjoying playing the odd spinning pitch whilst on my holidays back home this week.

The OP needs therapy for wanting rain, get on to your club for better sprinklers to be installed and use more water at the right time, I've seen sprinklers come on too early at a previous club when the sun is still fully out, complete waste of time that IMO!

Green keepers should be applying wetting agents and liquid organic feeds in the mornings to your greens, fairways, tees & aprons.

Packing waterproofs for tomorrow now

Yup, need rain desperately. Course is limited to the amount of water that can be used per day, and what else it can use due to being on a site of special scientific interest.
We are very much reliant on Mother Nature being kind to us!

first time I've heard someone unhappy the rough is burning back due to good weather, plenty complaining about rough being to thick last week;)

We have had enough rain to last all year, funnily enough our greens are still hard and fast despite this. The only plus side to all this rain is that the courses are in great condition. Thankfully all the courses drain well so no soggy patches or puddles to worry about.

Our place in South Yorkshire is a bit brown in places, the fairways are like a concrete car park bouncy bouncy. But the greens are holding up well if a little firmer than I'd like.

Looks like there's going to be a serious amout of rain heading south of London region in the next day or so according to BBC weather this morning.
