Did I hear this correct this a.m.? UNITE accept a pay offer but The RMT override what they have accepted and decline the offer.

Sure somebody will be explain how this works please.

Did we employ people from overseas to save money, or because there aren’t enough people here to do the work?

How many brought a family with them?

My old office had 35 people working in it. 20 we’re not from the UK. Even if we wanted to only employ people from the UK we couldn’t as there aren’t the people with the skills.
Starange how I mentioned this last week and Labour under the freedom Of info act have picked up how much hospitals are
Paying for agency’s. Furthermore they have mentioned how much they will
Increase the numbers of drs and nurses being trained.
Don’t get me wrong we should encourage skilled workers to work in the UK to “ Enhance our lives”. But not at the expense if we cannot be bothered to fund them.

There is no easy answer.

But the questions should be. Why do we need so many nurses and doctors? And how do we become healthier as a nation to reduce the burden?

There are 4 main unions on the railways

RMT (all grades)
Asleef (drivers)
Tssa (mainly management but anyone can join)
Unite (not as many members, find they mainly cover power control on our company)

Anyways during pay and conditions etc talks the deal has to be signed off by all 4 unions before it's agree

Tssa and unite normally sign off first , they are guided by their members so if it say doesn't affect their members the strike and they want the pay deal they will vote accept

Now RMT And asleef are the bigger ones and cause the most damage in terms of strikes because more members and asleef control the most drivers normally , there is a saying asleef rule the rails .. normally when they go out things get done . Apparently

Anyways for example lul pay deal agreed in 2020, tssa and unite signed off in 2019 December of. Rmt and asleef pushed for more of a % as it was rpi plus 0.2 or something like that .. once lockdowns hit rmt accepted and asleef did at the last second. Paydeal agreed

Personally if I was the company I would have said nope sorry deals off the table until we assess covid then re think .. but industrial relations are key sometimes

Anyways all unions need to agree and rmt cover more of these grades affected so will be out

Asleef is just drivers so won't be out in the main

On a strike day other union members are entitled to go to work , they can refuse to cross a picket and become a wildcat strike ,as can anyone

But also the company can't ask what union your in officially so you could be a member of all of them (if your a driver it not just some of them)

I'll give you an example last few strike days on lul have been just rmt

Tssa haven't balloted yet and asleef are sitting on a strike ready to give notice if they choose (has been this position since march , keep voting yes and just holding until a pension change happens)

So rmt go out, some people won't cross a picket

I'm tssa and I'm expected in, I will report in however I will only do my job, if asked to go to a secondary location to say open a station I can say that's not in my contract and is strike breaking I will do my contracted roll and nothing else

I'm fortunate that my role is they wouldn't ask me that anyways but other roles would get asked and then it becomes just awkward

Edit as I've gone on a tangent

All 4 unions have to agree and they can't pay unite members and then not rmt because normally rmt hold out and out get say 2% more and everyone gets it

Currently on my travels. Stuck at Poznan airport ?
Anyway your question is a very valid point. I have remarked to Missis T once more. The Polish population look very much slimmer than in the UK. Cycle lanes etc. The mindset looks Different to ours, I have been to many countries where the population generally looks Slimmer. The NHS does need looking at, but I feel others need to look At them selves. ?

There really is a bit of the Alan partridge about dear old Richard lol

I'm glad lynch cleared up something I been trying to find..this "Xmas Eve" won't affect passengers.. I thought he said it previously but couldn't find the notice
Not seen it but the wife watched it, tbh the telly tubbies would run rings around Richard. Thinks himself a serious news ankor... ⚓ is about right?

I think a lot of people here are about to get slimmer because they choose to feed their kids and heat the house before themselves.
But that will need the nhs to look after them through malnutrition.
I think most other countries the gap between rich and poor isn’t so big.
They look after the people first not big businesses avoiding their taxes, and paying shareholders millions.
We pay poverty wages that’s why people won’t work especially the over 50s who can just about afford not to.
Most of the people going on strike work shift work inc weekends for a very poor wage.
That’s not good for your health, but people who have never done shifts don’t know the effect it has on you.

I'll take note not to criticize BR here because my posts are deleted.
Am I actually upsetting somebody by pointing out the grim reality of going by train these days?

I see the £1000 fare I referred to was from 13 years ago, so what must it be now?
Passengers will have to fork out even more to travel on this unreliable system, which once was actually a public service that most could afford.

UK's first £1,000 train fare revealed | Transport | The Guardian
Because a turn up and buy 1st Class ticket from the Scottish isles to Cornwall is a really good barometer of the cost of public transport.

Feel at the end of this post it should say:

“This has been a party political broadcast on behalf of the Labour party” ??

Mick Lynch comes across as a real pompous ass. It's like he wants the union to be on strike so he is always in the news and justifying his existence.

Found lynch to come across very well, puts news readers and MPs in their place with just the facts and doesn't talk in riddles.

Rather refreshing

Plus a fine example setter.. got the job and cut his wages from 120k to 84k, fair play
