Rafa

Yes there has been a turnaround. Dont know if the Mikel sub has any bearing whatsoever though. Hazard yes deffo which begs the question why was he on the bench in the first place

TBH, even though Frank has goals in him, the two roles couldn't be more different and Frank wasn't really in the game.

Mikel was bought as a holding midfielder to replace Makélélé and that was what was needed and turned out to be the case for the more creative mid fielders to then push forward and create more chances, which is what happened.

Mikel rarely and didn't push forward today where-as when Frank does someone has to sit back and the wide area's go begging IMO.

For once he got the subs right IMO although my biggest concern was playing Luiz and Carhill together, they just don't suit each other IMO and Luiz has played better when pushed a little more forward.

I'll take that result as it looked after 15 minutes it could have been a rout and then we could have stole it. but hey, that's football ;)

I bet F SW sleeps better than the purple nosed one tonight!!
!

Did you see his pre-match interview?

Talk about slurred speech, reckon he'd been on the red since lunchtime, came across as though he was pished.

He might sleep very well, the old bill will anyway, they were all fearing a Chelsea Vs Millwall semi, could still be a final though :)

You seriously think we will get past both sides of Manchester Fish? I think we will come to rue the missed opportunities today in the replay.

Glad they got a result dont get me wrong, as I said in the Nani thread that is still going strong even though the incident was Tuesday evening:) there is nothing better I like to see than Bacon Face and his team take a stuffing at home. However I think Rafa got a bit lucky with a few things today and did well in others. Why did Hazard not start the game for instance. The Lamps sub was risky to say the least and the CFC fans certainly let him know what they thought about it. Gonna be a tough route to the final though now with City awaiting the winners

Any explanation for the sub he has just made Lampard off Mikel on when they are 2-0 down:eek: Shouts of you dont know what your doing ring out:) another clueless manager living off past glories

That worked out different than you expected. :)

I haven't seen the game, so wont go into the wheres and whyfors of Rafa's decision. I have also been incredulous at some of the LFC subsistutions in the past, but he did do this a lot and with some success. Most footy fans always expect forwards or wingers to come on when chasing a game, or always like-for-like substitutions, but Rafa doesn't always do that.

To be fair sometimes he will just change the shape, or put a defensive midfielder on, take a forward off, but then 10 minutes later, put a forward on. By the looks of it, he shored up the midfield, changed the shape and allowed the offensive players to have more freedom, and nearly sneaked it.

Give him credit for today,at least - 2-0 down at OT and nearly won, with a tactical change.

I did follow up the original post right away as Hazard scored as soon as I clicked the submit button on the original post:) why Hazard was not in the starting line up is another matter. Is Ramires not supposed to be a ball winner or can do defensive duties anyway, couldnt he have done the job that Mikel was brought on to do from kick off? he has got away with it for now as it turned around and they should have won it it in the end though and should have done. Still stand by the comment though that he is living off past glories.

I must admit Chelsea and rafa, just don't fit.

Do you find it difficult to admit you were wrong?
