Well after much testing of the TP and standard version, I'm now the proud owner of a set of standard R9 irons in regular KBS steel shafts. I was at the range for over an hour and a half and to be honest both R9 sets are really good but in the end I struggled with the much heavier TP shafts. The standard R9 clubs are giving me a much stroner ball flight compared to my tour burners and are very forgiving on the longer irons.

I did try the standard TP model as well but the shaft in that I found too heavy (its heavier still than the R9 TP shaft) and unforgiving and there wasn't the margin of error. I'm off tomorrow first thing to try them at the range and then off to the course tomorrow afternoon to give them a proper christening. I'm one very happy camper!!!!

I do have to say that for once, the level of service I got from the professional attached to the AG (not the shop staff) was exceptional and although it hasn't changed my overall feeling towards AG it has made me feel a little happier buying there. I should point out that I also tried the X22 Pro and the I15's as well as the three TM models in the bay on the launch equipment before going outside and hitting balls. I was getting too much spin with the Cally's and to be honest couldn't hit the current TM TP's. I was hitting the I15 as well as I had last weekend. The R9 TP gave me a good distance and control again especially with the short irons and forgiveness on the longer ones but the ball flight was a little too shallow hence the reason for the standard model as I was getting longer and more accurate compared to the I15 which flew in more of a rainbow trajectory as opposed to a flatter one.

I'm like a kid at Christmas and can't wait to play with them and for the stableford next weekend.

Is there somewhere on the 'net to look at these. I can't find R9 irons on the TM website...

I checked them out at the range/pro shop yesterday. I didn't like the look of them at address as they look too chunky, im sure id fall in love with them if I hit them though so i'll try and avoid it. I made that mistake with the R9 3 wood I thought i'd just see what all the fuss is about and hit 50 identical straight 260-70 yard shots with it. Needless to say it's now in my bag

It was Camberley. I hit the balls in the bay and whittled it down to the I15, R9 standard and TP models and we hopped in the car down the road to Pine Ridge to hit on the range. Birds Hill aren't getting any in until the 12th.

Heres a rushed pic. They are still in their wrappers!!!

Still got the tour burners. Haven't made a decision on what to do. I've potentially got a couple of guys interested but if not I'll probably put them up here first and then onto flea-bay

You should get a decent price for them with the sweet spot never having been used
:D

Yuk, not to my liking (most TM stuff isn't) but good luck with those H you have been looking for a while.

Had a blast of VIG's R9 driver in the week and creamed one out the middle. With a stiff shaft too (mine is reg) and now I wonder if I should have a stiff shaft. (would that help cure the hook???) Oooh all this talk of stiff shafts ;)

Good luck with them Homer, not the most pleasing on the eye though its horses for courses but if they get you into single figures by this time next year looks dont mater i suppose.
