R&A To Tackle Slow Play

It needs to be tackled and I'd like to see a yellow card system where if you get put on the clock you get a yellow card. Two yellows in the event and it's a red and a two shot penalty. Of course you can argue that it's unfair to penalise a whole group but they all have a responsibility to keep the group moving. It's an old chestnut and while the R&A pontificate and continue to discuss the problem nothing gets done. Twenty four penalties given in the history of the tour tells its own story

I don't disagree that they could do with sorting slow play out but I really don't agree with this part of your argument. At an amateur level it's hard to get people to quicken but at pro level one player isn't going to affect his game by getting into a row with another over his pace of play!

Groups in the pro game get put on the clock and so there's an argument that games are affected to one degree or another by forcibly having to speed up to satisfy the rules officials. There has to be a whole re-education in the club golfer mentality and it's an old problem that 99% would say they're not the cause. Someone has to be somewhere
