I used to play early at the weekend, about 8.30am, but hated it, I'm not an early person. Last two years I was able to play at 10am most days. Much better. But recently I've moved to an afternoon t time. I'm finding this much more relaxing, mess about in the morning doing stuff then potter off to play. It's warmer too.😁 I think, given the choice, without any pressure either way, I prefer afternoons to play.

First thing in the morning...before the rush, before the greenkeepers, as soon as it's light enough to play.
Best time of the day and nobody will ever change my mind....
Must admit...although like CF I am not a morning person, the times that I've got up at the crack of sparrows and played has been wonderful.

On a few occasions I'd be on the course at 5am, play 18 holes in blissful solitude and the go to work.

I do really like a post work mid evening wind down round as well mind.

think I've got set playing around 8.30-9.00 at weekends since we had booked times for Covid. Find it harder to play later morning, early afternoon which is an issue as I'm in a club match at 11.45 on Saturday

I like first thing, leaves the rest of the day clear. A friend of mine won't play before midday, can't understand why so many like an early start. Usually by playing later the course is clear so I can understand the benefit there.

I will play whatever time I can

If it's a school day 0900 is perfect. Get home before the kids

If I'm working latest 0800 isn't a bad one

Dont mind a late round after work either

Whenever I can tee up and get round in a reasonable time im in

I use to play really early on a Saturday.
but I’m up early all week for work & like my lay in on a wk end now.

No guarantee that nobody is in front of you if you tee off first? 🫤
To be fair things may have changed since I went out early which was when my kids were young and there was no booking system, however I suspect people do go out before the first tee time in good weather and drive up to assorted random tees accessible from the road to play a few early morning holes.

I see. I preferred my previous close that didn't have tee times and didn't even officially close the course. If it was daylight, the course was open.

Wake up, coffee and shower. Head up to the club for breakfast, warm up in the nets then tee off around 10.30 - 11ish

I used to like playing around 10:30 ish, but at my club you're not allowed (due to two-tee start and roll-up tee sheet with no bookings).

So now I usually play around 9am, after the morning roll-ups have gone off. Quite happy to potter around at that time, get back in for lunch, and then have the afternoon to do something with the family potentially.

I like an afternoon round for the weather being warmer at this time of year, but it also kind of wipes out the whole day, as I don't feel you can do much in the morning before a round of golf really. Not as much as you can in an afternoon and evening anyway. Also I'll just be wanting the time to hurry up so I can go and play golf anyway. 😂 Far better to be waking up and going straight there.

Edit: Just to add, there is a lovely place in my heart for a midweek summer evening round, but I get precious little chances to get any of these in these days unfortunately.
