Jeez! I forgot to post this last Saturday.

Played the clubs first comp of the year last Saturday. A bit nervous but it was a S/ford comp, so no real pressure.

After the 18th we totted up our scores. I had 33 points and my marker informed me I had broken 100!
The first time I have done it on my course!
I was chuffed to bits to say the least.
Drove home with a large smile and bored the wife rigid retelling virtually every shot.
She was genuinely pleased for me but I get the impression she lost interest by the time I got to the 6th!!! :D

Plan now is to keep up the practice, maintain sub 100 rounds and work on the next milestone of breking 90.

Happy days! :)

Well done mate ,take the praise while you can sooner or later she wont give a hoot, saying that my misses is always interested but my mum would rather stick pins in her eyes than listen to my dad.

Good on Yer Basher

1st real milestone overcome - move on to the next.

We'll have you off single figures in no time......

Well done. You know its in the locker. Its all about building and eradicating the silly mistakes. Soon be shooting 40 points and being harangued as a bandit by your members and on here. Shame the course is closed though.

that's a great achievment well done. I will never forget how nervous I was the 1st time I had the chance to break100, and the 6 or 7 other times before I did. Then the same for breking 90. I broke 80 for the 1st time for about 18 months at the end of last year after going through some injury and was just as nervous even though I have done it loads of times before. Seriously well done. That is a big achievment

I used to tell my wife to smile and nod and look happy, I didnt mind if she was bored.

Are we still talking about golf here?? :D

Well done on the OP breaking the 3 figure barrier!!

Well done Basher.

Did it have anything to do with someone else scoring you and you not being aware of the fact that you were getting close? Just wondering as a few have mentioned tightening up when you realise you could score well.

Congratulations! Breaking 100 is the first big milestone for any golfer.

I'd set yourself goals in units of 5 rather than 10 to keep you motivated. 10 shots is a lot but 5 is much more achievable.

Well done though!

Good idea mate. I'll aim to break 95. Hopefully will be manageable some time soon.

I've played solo and marked my own card many times. Never managed sub 100. I reckon there may be some truth in the idea that because my card was being marked by someone else, my thoughts didn't turn to my own scoring. I did know I was playing quite well. (for me) :)
