Newbie
Hi there,
First of all, I'm new to the board though I have visited for quite some time now just to have a read.
Im quite new to the game (apart from playing on and off as a teenager) and invested in some second hand Ping G5 irons - a good place to start, I thought, with quite a low budget.
Not too long ago, at the local range, the weight came out of my 6 iron and was lost, leaving the club unusable. I asked the pro there for his advice and he said it would be cheapest to get another one from ebay. He said there should be plenty around as the 6 iron is usually a demo club. I did find quite a few on there and bought a replacement head very cheaply, thinking I'd remove the weight and put it in mine. Then I found an even cheaper 6 iron, same dot colour and I bought that too to use in the meantime. The cost of these doesnt bother me too much as both were literally a few pounds.
My concern is that neither the head or the club I bought have a serial number on the hosel, as all my other irons do. However, they both have #15 etched into the toe. Does anyone know if this indicates that they are a genuine demo club or, without the serial number, does it appear they are just extremely good copies? I'd much rather repair my own 6 iron as it is part of a set with matching serial numbers and it is in much better condition than the club and the head I bought. However, I don't want to put a fake weight in there as I dont know if it will also make the club useless!
Sorry, not the most interesting of first posts but any help would be much appreciated!
