How much do you think previous experience affects your game?

I play my UK club regularly and the 2 in Spain regularly but mostly play terribly.
I have come round to thinking that this may be due to my previous bad experiences and 'baggage' associated with the courses. they are in my head....
When I go to a new course I do tend to play then quite well as I have no baggage with those courses.

Is this me trying to rationalise my poor play or is it a 'thing'?

I dunno, I think sometimes when you play a new course you don't know, you'll play it more conservatively and ultimately get a better score. At your own club you'll push it a little bit trying to match your best scores there. There might be the odd hole that gets in your head as you've not played it well lately, but probably not the whole course.

You also won't think twice about a bad round at a new course -rationalise it away in seconds. "I didn't know the course at all, of course I wasn't going to shoot a great score. Nothing to worry about".

Personally I don't think it's a thing. Can break 75 on my course or a brand new one and also shoot 88 on both. How your playing on the day is what matters imho
