we could but don't, the course is very playable even in winter. But when would the tee boxes and surrounding area's have time to rest.
Happily play NQ stablefords and team events through winter. Saying that, I've only played over handicap once so far this winter and haven't been within 7 points of a singles win. Bandits are about for sure.

No, and I don't believe any club in our county area does

1st weekend in March
Til
Last weekend in October
That's my club season

Had a quick look at Northumberland courses on HDIDO. 3 of the first 7 looked at are still running qualifiers.

First weekend in April until 1st weekend in Nov, then all NQ's off Winter Tees and Teeing up on Fairways.

Which would they be.....??
I've only ever been aware of Goswick running 1 per month, even then some could be nq, when I was a member there

Could only imagine Goswick or maybe newbiggin being playable this time of year up here, on a measured course

Newbiggin, Seahouses, Slaley Hall.

I know conditions are far from perfect up there at this time of the year but I feel that a lot of clubs stop playing qualifiers because "that's what we've always done".

Yeah, but apart from those 7, no one does 😂

Can't you read...??
He never said 7

Have you played any courses in Northumberland...??
Most at the end of October aren't very playable, put away the tee box markers, push the tees forward, temp greens, bunkers out of play at some, local rules where u pick ball off fairway and place in the semi, or tee up on fairways

We aren't blessed with great golf courses, nor great draining courses, most are inland parkland style, with a few exceptions

no qualifies for us from Mid oct to April. I can't think of a single club up here that does.

we don't run any comps at all, though Dunbar has a NQ medal a couple of times a month.

no appetite for comps this time of year from most of the members

Newbiggin and Seahouses I can see being possibles
But slaley.....??.....will be like a bog right now.

At my last club, I asked this question to the secretary, he said, the county (Union) just weren't that interested in 12 months qualifiers even where possible, from admin stance
Pathetic really, but what he told me, and he has county experience

If you don't think I can read, it's best not to reply with something for me to read. 😉

Lighten up, seems living in permanent darkness up north is getting you down 👎

I fail to see how or why the County Union would or should be involved in a club's decisions on holding qualifiers. The Secretary was talking out of his rear end (OK, I can hear people saying "situation normal").

We tried a couple of years ago but very low fields and dodgy weather put paid to any real co petition.
So they devised the Winter League. Keeps a card in your hand so the competitive edge is there but you commit to the round on the day - if it's blowing a hoolie then you don't play the league - you might still go out if you're mad enough...

Qualifiers at ours are from first Sunday in April through to first week in October.

Over winter we have the winter league and the occasional fun comp such as betterballs and mixed scrambles.

No, which is really annoying. The ladies do but the men don't. Our last weekend qualifier is at the beginning of November and they start again in March. i assume it is because the winter league takes over but I would still like at least 1 qualifier a month.

Yes but they shouldn't as the conditions are not up to it.

To be fair the Competition Committee try to organise more team / fun events this time of year. However, our Christmas Comps are all qualifying and as the last was played with a hard frost it was a joke.

Should stop in November and start again in March

Weather permitting yes. Course is on clay but due to the recent dry weather we are still on full greens and tees when not frosty. I even managed a 0.1 cut last Saturday.
