Mark Hughes leaves Fulham to go to a big club. Ends up a few miles down the road. Gets loads of new signings in and sitting bottom of the table. Happy days and a perfect opening day. Few interesting results including the mighty Fulham. Not sure Liverpool are going to be any better this year but just wonder if WBA could be the surprise package. Plenty of speed, goalscorers and creative. Wonder if they'll be stronmg enough at the back.

Think the usual suspects will be there agan and I think it will come down to the two Manchester clubs. Arsenal rebuilding, Chelsea for third and think AvB will do no better at Spurs than he did at Chelsea. Whatever happens I hope your team, whichever divisionthey play in, has a decent season (unless its QPhahahaha)

Not likely up here in Stoke Homer.

We have a manager with a habit of picking his best friends over his best team. Negative substitutions and tactics that belong in the 1980's!

I fancy Stoke for relegation this year unless Mr Coates (The owner) gets rid of the current gaffer!

Interesting Gareth as Pulis has been praised for keeping them in the PL.

I know the tactics are "agricultural", are the supporters starting to want more than staying up at all costs?

Yea, that rankled me when he came out with "I want a bigger club than Fulham" QPR tick all the boxes!!!!!!!

Glad to see someones happy - I fear the worst this season. We have dodged a couple of bullets recently needing results at Sheff Wed and Stockport in the last games of the respective seasons. Something tells me (possibly the lack of quality within the squad) that we wont be so lucky this time around.

Hughes and Pulis are my two least favourite people in football...
And its nothing to do with them being Welsh either!

Won't be disappointed at all if either or both are the first ones being shown the door this season... PLEASE!

Like I said NWJ, he picks his best mates not his best team!

Rory Delap is only in the team because he can throw a ball further than he can kick it, a' la' his looooong throw. That's the only reason he gets picked. There are more but would take a while to type.

Hos tactics baffle most supporters. Yesterday 1-0 up he takes off a player who is running their defenders ragged for a defensive midfielder...... At 1-0.

Too negative.

He gets praised for keeping us in the league but, in all honesty, we should be doing better than the last 2 seasons finishes. We are by no means a top 10 side, but I would like to think we could at lease make top 12 most seasons.

Got to love the Premier.. the Blue Suare Premier. Luton and Mansfield to be well up there, my team Stockport to be challenging for the playoffs.
Ahhhh proper football.

Hopefuly we turn utd over on monday night , new players or ones who havent scored in years always seem to break their duck against us .. van persie will probably get on the score sheet , please God we start the season better than the last few ...good to have it back tho ..

think if suarez had knocked one of his early chances in yesterday pool game would have been different , they will be there or there abouts end of season ... Spurs are gona be a strange one, they need a centre forward badly , AVB in for a tough time there i think .. gona be intresting how chelsea do now Robbie is full time manager,

Ah good oul fotty eh ? bring on the heated "discussions ".. Stuart i look forward to our "interaction" over the season ha ..
another mark Hughes disliker here , numpty left the cottage to get the Chelski job ... ooops Marky you werent in the frame ha ha

Too right. Luton were one of the better teams I saw at Kidderminster last year but Mansfield were thugs as happened yesterday. More than half a dozen tackles that deserved reds cards let alone yellow.

We are creating chances at the moment but defensively the new players are still getting used to each other.

A good start for the Geordies but I'm being realistic and think well finish top 6. Anything higher is a bonus

I think arsenal will still be there as the new lads look to be very good signings and what their fans must remember is that RVP only had one quality FULL season. Spurs will be like Newcastle and fighting for the best of the rest honours.

For the title I'm thinking man city will have learned from last year and will actually be even more consistent. Man utd will push them all the way but they need a midfield enforcer with a combination of youth, experience and quality. Oh, and they should keep Young on the bench

Regardless of what happens, I'm glad my favourite sport I back on tv

Sadly, I can't remember being less excited about the start of the footie season.

Hearing the average Olympic athlete, who was literate, enthusiastic, approachable and humble, then comparing them to the average overpaid arrogant footballer makes me wonder for the future of the game.

A wonderful beautiful game that is being brought to its knees by the people who play it.

Players come & go tho Monty , its the hope & expectation , the waiting on results , the banter with your mates , sooo much more than the individuals involved

My teams first game in the Championship for a while, at least we didn't lose. Our squad is far from where it needs to be just home we can make the playoffs at least and have a tilt at a big day at Wembley.

I did chuckle when I saw the result of QPR, Hughes a former manager of ours who always boasts about off to bigger things firmly planted at the root of the table again..

Think this sums it up for the vast majority of footie 'fans'...

I think this is less the case than it used to be.

I don't know many people that are massively enthusiastic at the return of football, particularly the Premiership. That said, most of my mates are not typical footie fans either.

Basically, I expect better standards on many aspects of life than footballers or the footballing word offers up. The Premiership in particular is a moral vacuum, ruined by money and what it has done to the players and clubs. I realised this on Saturday night when halfway through MOTD, I thought to myself, why am I watching this? Some mediocre highlights interspersed with utter banality from Shearer, Hansen and Lineker. I switched it off and went to bed to read a book.

Premiership Football? I just don't care any more. It is a vulgar, over-hyped mess of a product that actively contributes to the parlous state of moral standards in the UK. It is the sporting equivalent of Celebrity Big Brother. TV for idiots. No thanks.
