My putting has always been iffy at best. I have just been looking at Bobmac's V-Easy web page, and it appears that you should putt by keeping your wrist still and putt with your shoulders, completely the opposite to how I have always putt, ie with the wrists.

Will this new knowledge mean I don't 3 putt as much in future?

Maybe/Maybe not. Only one way to find out, get on the course and try it. The putting stroke should be as said a pendulum motion using shoulders it will certainly make for a smoother stroke.

Only if you buy a V-Easy ;)

After a dire putting performance at the weekend I took the plunge and ordered a v-easy last night from e-bay. Only 12.99 and hopefully it will help with my also dire chipping. Heres hoping

whats the thinking behind always with a smooth tempo? the best putter i played with last year pulled the putter back ever so slowly before increasing the distance for longer putts. i have copied his method at times and it seems to work well for me too. the slow movement allows me to keep the ball in the middle/sweet spot of the putter easily on the backswing.

Wristy style putting actions are a bit old fashioned - probably back to times when greens were not as good as they are now. The norm now appears to be the shoulder rocking with no wrists.

Thats exactly what the V Easy does - firms up the wrists and encourages the shoulder rocking motion. Just make sure that you grip the putter lightly! Oh - and go get one - PM Bob.

It should make your touch better - so yes - 3 putts could be a thing of the past!

PS - Bob - How much will you pay me for that?

stick a club or garden cane under your armpits and across your chest to get that 'rocking shoulders' feeling immediately

Seriously thinking about going to a belly putter , it takes the wrists right out of the equation and the stroke feels a lot smoother. I'm quite happy with my putting in general but there's always room for improvement.

I got the V-easy out yesterday, primarily for chipping. Kerching! the penny dropped and finally we've a stroke that works akin with a proper set up position at address. So easy when you do it right.
