Putting question

it could/can help folks initiate a motion by relieving tension, very much depends on folks grip, putting stroke style etc - so can help prevent freezing over the ball and struggle to move the putter back or help stop jerking it back
so it's used as a 'trigger' to motion

- but it's not a given it would help necessarily, especially if the forward press becomes way to emphasized (like what happened to 'Lefty' some months back)
too much forwards press so too much wrist break independent hand action, so putter head rising up off of the ground too much as that could/can affect angle of attack the putterhead comes back into the ball leading to bad strike contacts can also affect the face angle alignment, swing path direction, so the ball direction starts off line

Thanks very much, that's great makes sense.

Ok, that's that theory out the window

😀😂😂😂.
I think I've since figured out what was wrong.
Whem I'm setting up to irons and woods I'm always concious to feel athletic and pretty much by the book with regards to posture.
Always try and keep the backside up against the wall so to speak to stop my early extension hiccup at times.
No I never did this with putting and preferred a more bent over posture from the waist rather than the hips.

But over the last week or 2 I seemed to be setting up with the iron posture. But it was yesterday morning it was pointed out to me by a mate.
So I played our 18 hole singles yesterday evening and went back to my old posture.

No more ground hits.
Don't know why. There might have been a bit more tension with the other setup.
Hopefully I've seen the last of it. 😉

Thanks for all the help from everbody though.👍

Not sure how others feel but I definitely get a better roll with this method. Must be to do with the angle of the putter face or summat.

That's exactly the same as me pal.
Better roll and more solid contact. But it's also a swing driver for me to clear the mind as well. Win, Win.
