Puts "Forum Distances" into context...

When it comes to driving distances being mentioned on here a great deal more suggest they drive over 300 yards on a regular occurrence and it's not the low HC guys

Simply not true. Almost no-one ever talks about distance on here, unlike many other golf forums.
Anyone that does is immediately met with a chorus of naysayers, it is pretty sad really.

its one of the sacred forum cows.... thou shalt not claim a driver carry distance over 230 yards.

Obviously as people have already stated the drive had to land in the fairway and they got one smack each

In the time that I have been postings here and attending meets, I'm still waiting to see these 'forum distance hitters in action. I hit a pretty decent ball off the tee and only one person I have seen play who I would class as a bigger hitter is Fundy. But then again he is like a gorilla on steroids when he hits it

Average vs one-off is where often people get all worked up

A guy gets amped that he hit a 300 yard drive downhill, on a baked fairway with a bit of a tail wind and all of a sudden all the whinging starts. Who gives a damn anyway either way?

Not sure why so many like to try and prove someone wrong. Can you imagine having a drink with someone like that?

3 pints later...guy 1: "do you play football?"
guy 2: "yeah, you?"
guy 1: "definitely, love it...I was pretty good in my youth, had a trial at West Ham"
guy 2: " no you didnt, you are lying and mildly dishonest!"
guy 1: "cant wait until we next meetup"
