When i come in here i will flit through the topics until something catches my eye, then go have a read if it's not interesting or not what i thought it would be about, i search elsewhere

The most sensible thing anyones said IMO

Echloon is correct with the clique 'element'. There is a large group who always agree with whatever Mike H says. I have no problem with that but surely he cannot always be right on he would be in heaven.

Regarding Homer I find he does tend to rabbit on a tad mainly from his own experience. This is in evidence by over 7000 post in 23 months or 300 per month. Must have a great job.

Loke most things in life people do have to choice to read his posts or go elsewhere

I only visit the forum from time to time now since the whole "mono" thing (sorry to name names).

I'd like to think I was one of the originals on the site and i'm not considered to be one of the crass posters but the forum definitely went down hill for me around the beginning of the year.

I dont however think its anyones fault, just the sheer numbers that are now giving input to the forum..... I now just pop in from time to time, if there is something that is of intrest I will give my input and if i need advice i will ask for it.

Well I think it's a damn good forum.

It's up to the members of a forum to make the imput.

But if the forum isn't saying what you want to say, what can you do about it ?

Oh yes, try posting it yourself.

Next week I'll teach you all about brain surgery.

Guys forums are electronic meeting places for discussion.
You will find that not everyone will get along, some subjects get repeated and old will mingle with new.
If it doesnt interest you, perhaps you arnt doing enough to keep it interesting? No one person can keep somewhere like here fresh, its a combined effort. Anyone that complains in my opinion are either not really into the subject in the first place or tend to take and not give.
Id liken forums to anything in life, you only get out what you put in.
We definately do not want to see any forum member leave, especially if they have contributed well.

I have to say though, posts like these dont help, a simple pm to one of the staff members would have sufficed kind of like a comments box where you can leave your thoughts privately and not airing dirty laundry in the open.
Thecraw, if you feel you must leave (why not check in every now and again) good luck fella and keep her straight down the middle. :)

I dunno, I rather like this thread. Nice to see some peoples opinions on the forum and its inhabitants.

It's much more fun.

I too have been less inclined to contribute recently.
Perhaps it is the number of members boasting about their 300+yd drives. Sour grapes of course since I take two shots for that distance.

This is a quality thread, its has raised a good level of discussion which is what these forums are about .The comments made by thecraw ,imo are correct ,nothing personal Homer but you would be classed by my golfing squad as a "GOLF BORE" the guy who tells you every shot he hit in his round and can remember every shot he has ever hit.
The forum has lost a good guy and a quality golfer to boot ,so good luck for rest of season mate and will be in touch.

morning all

FWIW here are my thoughts...

I am always sorry to see a forumer like thecraw who has contributed a lot move on but at the end of the day if he's not enjoying coming on here then he'll understandably go elsewhere.

I certainly agree that there is a wee bit to much bickering of late and hopefully this will settle down in time - the sooner the better. However I do think despite that there's still and awful lot of good comment and banter here and it's proving a great way to arrange meet ups and games - long may that all last.

I guess it's like falling out of love with what was your favourite pub - you don't like the new clientele or the beers they're now serving - so you head off to find a new one of just stay home and have a beer there! One day you might pop back in and have a pint for old time's sake and see what the craic is like! So maybe we'll see some of those who have moved on come back another day - you know you'd all be most welcome.

With regard to forumers agreeing with me I guess every viewpoint will have it's advocates or detractors. The majority of my posts are to follow up on a post or comment and explain why GM or how does something (be it flappy covers price increases, way we do equipment reviews etc

I'd like to think no one agrees with me or supports my view just because I'm the editor of Golf Monthly. Just as with any other poster on the forum you'll either agree or disagree with my points and I think there have been plenty on both sides.

cheers

Actually Mike, I've been meaning to have a word with you on the flappy covers thing....... :)

Finally will someone please tell Homer this is not his bloomin forum. There I have done it. No need anymore, hopefully he takes the hint.
Homer is an awesome poster, I love what he writes - a great forum contributor and clearly loves the game (the whole point of the forum). I'm happy to read about his entire round shot-by-shot if need be as I'm as enthusiastic about the game as he is, and countless others are too.

If the forum doesn't meet your criteria then simply move on, not everyone can be 100% happy 100% of the time, no need to cry about it and point fingers on the way out though :D

tripe posts and numerous tripe posters, people seem to troll for fun nowadays and its lost its appeal.

And this thread is witty and helpful. Stop looking for violins.

I know no one here and couldn't give a rats arse.:-)

At the end of the day people come and people go. Some will stick around for ever and some dip in once and never return. If the forum appears dull - do something about it. Moaning that Homer comments on every thread is a bizarre thing to say on a forum where the whole idea of the thing is to make comments.
To all Forumers I say "Lets stop the squabbling and get back to discussing the best game in the world".
If you've lost interest then Thanx, Tara! See you again one day. Its been good but times change. There's always new guys coming on.
I like it here. I (generally) like most of you - though I've never met most of you! IF I have an issue with anything I either sort it via PM or forget it - life's too short.

So anyway, who thinks Tiger is finished??

Couldn't agree more; Homer contributes in a constructive manner and always adds value to the topic. If you don't care for what he (or others) write; simply move on to another topic, it's not exactly rocket science, is it!

Oh look every ones agreeing with MikeH again! :)

Just Kidding.

I think its inevitible that these posts will crop up once a month due to the numbers on the forum. You cant keep everyone happy all of the time.

I just ignore the threads/forumers I dont like and get on with it.
