Proudest Golfing Moment

Yes fat boy I was there to witness your game that day, well I was in front of you until you lost a few holes. My best moment of that day was standing waiting on your group come down the 18th where you proceeded to unzip your trousers & have a piss in the middle of the fairway in full view of the clubhouse, pure classic it was:whoo::whoo:

:whistle::whistle::cheers:

i didnt no that was the clubhouse did i, i thought the clubhouse was in the hotel

Won a board comp early in the season this year, a Bogey comp won with a 'sensible' score of 2 up as well ;)

Set me up for a great season, big inroads into the handicap etc so I was thinking.........reality - 6 months out through injury :(

a relative newbie to the game as some know, But yesterday I won my first event. A 4 ball 9 hole scramble, 5 under, handicap of 3.2, so won easy. It was a fantastic 9 holes, as I only knew 1 of the guys who I played with last week, we got on great, all chipped in, (managed to hit 2 pins with chip ins from 20 yards).
I now have the monkey off my back and I am really looking forward to the spring league and hope to make serious inroads into my handicap.

Thanks Bill, the short game is working well at the moment. The scramble format is a great way to meet guys, we set the target of pars and anything else is a bonus, we birdied the 2 par 5's, (eagle chip hit the flag) and we birdied each of the last 3 holes. I even had the pleasure of having to hit the last drive and managed to knock it straight down the middle. The winning appetite is back after about 8 years since playing any real competitive sport.
Naybrains that is some shooting. Well done.

Playing with Smiffy in the forum meet against Ping and we made a ½point to seal the win for GM. I've never achieved anything with a partner before and Smiffy really is a top bloke. To see his game come together was great to watch and it was a privilege to be there both with him and for GM.
Aye, it was a great day that one wasn't it James. Let's hope it's not the last.

Has to be winning the summer betterball knockouts at ramside with anth, a friend I went to school with, won 8 matches to lift the trophy, my first real success. But winning with a good friend made it better, as I know live in northern Ireland only get to play a few rounds a year with him now, I actually miss all the grief I get off him lol

Cheers BJ, quite sum way to win a major! (handicap was 17)
Unfortunately only followed it up this year with a Medal win a few seconds and a singles Semi-final.

This season went Tits up when I Started getting lessons mid-summer - my (nay)brain became frazzled with the lessons and reading books on golf swings etc.......
Relax and enjoy it...forget about how the swing looks I now tell myself and my games started improving again.

Some great achievements there guys

My own:
3 birdies in a row this year (holes 9-11)
Eagle from around 280 yards on par 5 (last 100yds downhill & blind so lucky)
Longest drive winner - approx 323 yards
3 * 8 over par this year
1 over after 11 holes (golf heaven!) beginning of October but sh*t then happened

However proudest moment was my 11 year old daughter caddying for me - that was golf heaven :)

Don't really have many so I guess it would be shooting level par gross on the back 9 of my home course for a gross 77 total (par 70). Wasn't in a competition or anything so it probably doesnt really count but it will do for me.

In a "friendly" matchplay against my mate this year, taking the match with an eagle on the 17th after his birdie - he was gutted!

Also, in a club sweep, chipping in twice & hitting the pin a further twice against a scratch 18 year old; he took it well, the classy player that he is :)

Wasn't James Simpson by any chance was it?

im not one for boasting or showing off (honest) but in my third season back playing golf and second season playing comps. i won three weeks in a row. course is a par 66 and i shot 81, 82, 74!!!! i can honestly say i played good. i was thinking about my score card or even what i was scoring at each hole! i just played golf the way i should ALWAYS be playing. i was a 20 handicap when this started but now 13!!!!!!
the day before my 74 my gran died so not in the best frame for golf. i didnt tell anyone till my last putt at 18. think i was 1 over the back nine as well as my two playing partners. really good feeling golf wise and i nearly forgot im now club vice captain.

Hi Wayman, it was indeed James!

Played your course twice, the first was in a society 3 years ago, and it was pouring it down.
The 2nd was a couple of weeks ago, when the heavens had exhausted all water supplies beforehand & stopped early on.
Lovely course!

James is good player wouldnt suprise me if he is pro when he is my age (21)

yea like the layout of my course shame the greens are sh!t

give me a shout if you fancy a game when weather is better

Yes he got a tiny mention in an article in the latest Golf North East for players of the future

Our course is lovely too, and what's more it's used for County Championships, so we get courtesy rounds at other courses

Yes, will be sure totake you up on your offer, cheers :)

Can I class the whole of this year as mine?

My first full year playing has given 2 medal wins and a Stableford win

:whoo:

If not, I'd have to say shooting 5 over on the back nine at Hawkstone park (old course) in November having shot to my handicap for the front 9.

There was a certain pride winning one of our board events last season with ex-forum member HTL when a lot on here thought we'd come nowhere. I'd like to think my finest and proudest moments are yet to come or why bother anymore
