I was luck enough to get a late invite into the Lochwinnoch Pro-Am last week, tee off was 1230, I got the call at 1210.

Anyway I have played a few pro-am's in the past and had a real mix of pro's from obnoxious, to crap to down right ignorant.

Well Friday was the day that made me really really enjoy Pro-am's and it was all down to the nicest friendliest professional that I have ever had the pleasure of playing golf with. At only 23 he was mature beyond his years and had the most wonderful attitude which put you at ease and a great golfer into the bargain.

The young man was Neil Fenwick of Dunbar Golf Club. He absolutely kills the ball as well and hopes to progress further in the game. Good luck to him, if anyone deserves it he does.

Cracking lad, played a bit with him when I was at Dunbar and to say he's long is an understatement!

He was telling me he has four guaranteed starts on the Challenge Tour, after one round of golf with him I'm actually rooting for him to do well. A more genuine, nicer lad you'll struggle to meet!

Your right, he absolutely bursts the ball.

Played a fair smattering of these and to be honest most of the pros would rather tha amateurs weren't anywhere near the vicinity of the course. Good to see one buck the trend and I hope he goes on to good things.

Couldnt disagree more, think I must have played over 20 pro-ams over the years and can only remember one pro who I thought was a bit far up himself and would rather not play with again, not had any issue or felt out of place with any of the others

I've only ever played in 2 of these, both when I was a junior.

The first one I got 3rd place and the pro was great. Had plenty of time for everyone and very helpful.

The second one Gordon Banks was supposed to be in our group but never turned up, the pro seemed like he didn't want to be there and my gross score beat his
