Im just wondering is this the proper address position.....Iv seen so many variences over the past few months playing and in magazines and books im wondering whats good and bad....

Is the left arm (if your right handed) supposed to be straight in line with the club shaft and a perfectly straight from shoulder to club head.....

Or am i doting. ;)

i would say address position depends on what shot your playing with a driver you want to hit the ball on the up swing so you would set the ball forward in your stance and your hands would be just behind the club head at impact. with and iron you want the hit slightly on the down so ball just behind your sternum and your hads just in front of the club head well at lest thats what i was told. i would say that picture is not great for either and looks a bit dated.

Don't like his hip position either. He's sliding his hips laterally rather than turning.

Generally if your not looking to impart backspin or anything you can play short irons to mid irons from just a fraction in front of centre. With the longer irons it starts to creep towards the front foot (up to about half way between centre and inside left heel). That's a good starting point to think of and when you want to start to shape ballflight and impart spin then that's when it changes.

So I'm told anyway and don't forget what is correct for one person isn't neccessarily what's right for another.... So what I've told you could be completely useless!! :)

Started putting the ball in line with left arm pit as Sergio Garcia suggested in a recent GM, Only played the once but strook drives more consistant than before.

He has also re-gripped with his right hand somewhere during the swing, as the face should be closed looking at his hand position relative to the start point, but it isn't.

And then theres lee westwood, he has a bent left arm (so do I according to my footage). Again, there is a good way to make a swing but there are so many otherways of getting the ball moving to wherer you want it.
