Just bought myself a set of project x 6.0 iron shaft from eBay they have been pulled so only £57. I'm going to replace my Nippon 1100 shaft in my callaway diablo forged iron. I no the 6.0 will be stiffer than the nippons but have tried them and like the flight have the shafts in my vokey wedges too. Can't wait to get them and I will fit them myself. It will be like having new irons all over again and if I don't take to them I will just swop again. Much cheaper than buying new irons. I only need the 5 to pw shafts but have read some where that if you fit the 4 iron shaft in the 5 iron and 5 shaft in the 6 iron it will play 5.5 not 6.0 stiffness is this true.

You're right in that they will play softer if you put the shaft from the 4 iron in the 5 etc, but not as much as down to 5.5. You'd probably need to go 2 clubs difference to make them play that soft.

Might be obvious, but don't forget to cut the 4 iron shaft to 5 iron length before you put it in the 5 :)

Unless you are 6 foot 6, in which case you'll be fine!

Good price!

PX - at 5.5 - felt 'brighter' but boardier than the 1100s I had, though not in the same heads.

The soft-stepping process (4 into 5, 5 into 6 etc) normally shaves 0.3 flex off - so likely to end up with 5.7. I did that with some Rifle 6.5s that had already been soft-stepped once as the weight suited me. They work well at 5.9 - I normally use 6.0.

You'll may need to shave 0.5" off the length of each shaft as 4i is 0.5" longer than 5i, but this involves removing grip, so I didn't bother - 0.5 over standard is fine for me as it helps correct my slouch!

Good Luck

I haven't a clue what they were pulled from. I have a 4 iron I don't use so will try taking that shaft out first to see how I get on and see what the tip size is.
