Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

The players is an awesome event but it should never be a 5th major.

If there had to be a 5th major then I would champion The Australian Open played on Sandbelt courses like Royal Melbourne.

My dad has told me about amazing Aussie Open events years ago where all his heroes took part like Nicklaus, Seve etc

It would bring a severe test and something different, also it would be amazing to have 2 majors outside of the USA.

Absolutely, if they go for a 5th. has to be an Aussie Open, plenty of awesome courses to put on rotation.

But, no way is Sawgrass "boring." There's birdies or doubles to be made all over the place. American TV coverage is 🤮 though. 😉

I flicked Bay Hill on for a few moments on Saturday evening, I had to turn it off as it was so frustratingly poor - the insipid blue static leaderboard, the shots of the course from the blimp, commercial breaks, awful direction with not enough golf being shown (Rolex advert is a prime example). They might think they have the best tour in the world, but it isn't reflected in the way the product is presented.

It wasnt that bad, biggest issue with the ads was showing them while important golf was being played then playing back recorded shots.
I'll be interested to see how LIV Singapore is on ITV4

If you can, download the app - it's a much better way of viewing. Suspect I'll just watch the highlights anyway given the broadcast time here.
I think picture quality may be an issue as it's on ITV4. Golf does look good in UHD on sky
Yes plus 8 hrs I think for Singapore, won't be watching live . Is liv still shotgun start ?

I personally look forward to the players, as others have said it feels like the season properly starts.

Among other things, what I like about it is that finishing 3 holes. If it’s tight at the top on Sunday then anything can happen there. Invariably watch the leaders play the 17th hoping for some action, if that all goes smoothly then it’s onto that 18th tee shot, which shouldn’t be as tricky as it ends up being. Hit driver, tug it slightly and you’re in the water. Hit 3 wood for safety and either duck hook it into the water or cut it into the trees and then scrapping around to make par at best.

As for 5th major, my choice would be Australia, spread it around the world a bit.

Why Aus ? Continental Europe is a much bigger golfing region now and the golfers making the top grade. Aus is small fundamentally, and a long way to go for the rest of the world. A 'European Open' at the rnd of August, moving around the main golf countries would extend the major season nicely.

Sawgrass is massively more interesting than most of the Open rota courses. Especially the really flat ones when the whole course is pretty much the same colour. It’s a million times more interesting than the old course.
The hyperbole when the open is there is nauseating.

I don’t disagree with you about a European major, obviously we have some amazing courses in addition to the ones on The Open rota. I just think Australia has some courses that offer something different to shake things up a bit.

Just had a look at some photos of Sawgrass and there seems to be a lot of pointless bunkers. Ok, some may be in play for the normal members but I would gladly take the job of bunker raker for the majority of the sand. Easy money with nothing to do all week :ROFLMAO:

Does anyone really believe that US/PGA would let another Major be anywhere but the USA.

I think they believe ALL Majors should be played in the good old USA.

The good news is that it’s not up to the US

There is no need for a 5th major

What needs to happen is the US PGA move back to August

Or be removed as a major and then another is found

Whilst the course in Aus no doubt will be very good - the telly market will always dictate
