Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

☝️ 59s are two a penny these days!

👏

It's still a great score - I watched his approach into the last hole which set up an easy two putt birdie to make it relatively comfortable for him. But, the course was set up way too easy - we really need to move away from course conditions that gift players low scores - I'm totally against rollback, but the scoring yesterday on the PGA National was ridiculously low, and very unnecessary.

Really low scores in the US, surprising as PGA National is usually very tough. I find it quite a bland course really, with the "bear trap" a fake marketing effort to create some amen corner drama. I was in Palm Beach Gardens last year and had the chance to play it because I was staying at a Marriott, but $500 was way too much.

Yeah, bear trap, snake pit, green mile etc. all just seem a bit uneccessary.

The increase in low scoring may be playing into the pro-rollback tribes' hands...

Dale Whitnall has just made his 2nd Hole in One of the round in Durban at the SA Open.....
That's just being greedy
Would have been great to follow that group!

"I had everything today. An air shot, two bogeys, a double bogey, three eagles and I come out nine under par so I can’t complain.”

Heavily reported, especially in the US based golf media, is that Spieth and Fowler are not receiving invites to the upcoming Arnold Palmer Invitational (Signature Event).
The comments on some articles have been split and returned to the entertainment verses sport debate. Plenty arguing that they are big names that fans wish to see and should be there.

Personally think it's the right call. Even though I quite like watching them play golf. Especially after some of the controversy last year when some committee members kept being invited to sig events.
That said, invites always have the potential to cause differing opinions.
What ya reckon?

Right call imo.

Mildly moist in Durban...final round suspended until at least 4pm local time...won't finish today.
Depending on the weather they may cut the 4th round or try and finish tomorrow...
Either way..no golf to watch this morning.. 😟

No question. It isnt a LIV event with novelty guest, even crown favourites. The reduced fields for the signature events, and need for them to preserve their pitch as being for the best, leaves no room for sentimental entrants.

Commentators at the Arnold Palmer harping on about the wind constantly, play golf up in the Highlands lads 🤣🤣🤣
Course looks set up well in fairness though!
Not too many of the early starters (2 out of 30) under par so far. Could be good watching them struggle when I have finished work. Always noce to see they are human and makes me feel better about my game 😁

Very tight leaderboard so far.. No one ripping it up....-3 the best so far..
Rory lipped out for solo lead on par 3, 14th...then lipped out again for the par from 3ft...🤯.... He does miss some amount of short putts..

As with a lot of LIV events, we are seeing a varied leaderboard, the Hong Kong course is tight and it nullifies the big hitters to a degree. Casey hit a peach into the last hole to set up a birdie and a two shot lead, but looking at the scores from last year, having a mediocre round on day one doesn't necessarily set the tone for the weekend.

No idea who will come through - Rahm looked frustrated out there - and Hatton has been consistent.

If I had to pick a winner - Garcia
