Bought a few Pro V1's on ebay and was a little disappointed when the balls did not arrive within a week.

My suspicion was aroused more when they came beautifully packaged from China but thought not too worry although the seller was in The UK.

What made matters worse was when a guy who knows a bit about golf, he plays off 3 said it was a 2 piece ball.

How do I know he is right and if so what use are they and what difference in flight etc.

Christmas is coming and so may have some early presents bought!!

Be careful when buying balls off ebay. I've been stung in the past. Funnily enough with V1's too! Just get them from the pro shop their worth the money!

You can get some great deals off e-bay but sadly a lot of rip offs too.
I would love to use proV1s but as my game is up and down like a yo yo in the feel department I tend to use reasonable middle of road types, but I wouldnt even trust them off e-bay lol.

I know a lot of people knock JJB, but they do a great deal in pro v1 lake balls £11.99 for 12 or £20 for 24 less than a £1 a ball and i've never been disapointed in the quality.
ok one or two scuffs and you know they have not been under water as you get lots of the new pro v's in them.

Note these are lake balls not refurbished

I think AG do some "refurb'd" Pro V1's, but I am always wary of refurbs - no idea why.

Like a few people on here, I love the feel of the Pro V1 but cannot justify £30 - £32 for a dozen when it has been known for me to lose three in a round. :(

I buy mine as logo over prints in Florida at £17 a dozen. Makes it a lot more affordable. Still hate losing them.

Refurbished balls are Satans work so stay clear. If they had been any good, why would they need refurbishing?

If you want to know about ProV1's & whether or not they are 2 piece balls, why not visit Titleists website, I'm sure all the details you want will be there.
http://www.titleist.co.uk/golfballs/prov1.asp?spec=1

It could be that original design ProV'swere a 2 piece, but Looking at the current specs, they seem to be a multilayer ball

Commiserations if you were sold lemons, but its buyer beware, but of course you know that. On another note its amazing how many things are manufactured under licence from the far east, including China

How do you know it is a two piece ball? Cut it in half and have a look. Do a new (not necessarily brand new, but of known provenance) ProV too just for comparison.

Even if ProVs were made in China by Titleist, I don't think they would be happy with direct imports from their factory to non franchised UK distributors.

Bound to be fake.

Get them at car boot fairs too (so I have been told, as this would be my idea of a nightmare way to spend Saturday morning, looking at 2nd hand tat for hours when I could be golfing).

I just been reading this thread with interest as I am still trying to find the 'Right' ball for me. I just think that I am being too much of a tight arse! I've tried Srixon AD-333's, Calaway Hot-Bite, TaylorMade TP Red, Nike Juice and even the Nike One Platinum and I have to say that the best of that bunch so far is the TaylorMade.
I have only tried ProV1 lake balls, are the new ones much better?

Which Taylormade did you try, I like the TP red and Black althought the red seem to go to high with the driver.

Have you tried Callaway tour 56 They are a great ball too.

The TP Red. To be honest up until recently every ball I hit off the tee went high and right as I was coming steep and across (out to in), but with my irons, around the green and off the putter I found them to be very good.

I've read that many people on here (and elesewhere) rave about the ProV1's so I may have to buy a sleeve and give them a crack.
