Pro shops, does anyone buy from them?

Our pro shop will price match & source product. The issue is sometimes that this isn’t communicated, you have to ask. I’d rather buy from the pro at my club, but I still also buy from AG with vouchers given at birthday etc. Don’t really buy on the internet much

Where do you buy your Sharpies from?

Ours gets plenty of business from me. Last set of irons were only 10 bob a stick more than AG; he got me a Mizuno fit, let me try their demo club with the different shafts recommended on course & got me a half price wedge & free stamping. Last bag was £20 cheaper than AG & if you buy stuff regularly from him, you'll get offers & discounts that other members don't. Got a Scotty Cameron Dual Balance ex-demo off him last year at a very favourable rate.

Almost always. They are always happy to let me try clubs etc. so I’ll happily give them my business. I will ask for a price match though to the online dealers and they’re always happy with that.

Occasionally I can’t get what I want from them but have no issues going elsewhere.

The other thing my pro did was sent me up to AG to spend my voucher on Prov1s. Gave him the balls and he took the money off my clubs! :)

That’s a great idea. Did he give you a shopping list? Would the deal would have extended to 96 pinnacle extremes rather than 12 prov1s?? :)

Come on ...... you list your Pro as a dependant relative on your tax return 😁

I've just realised the driver was a F6+ so would be £20 or so more anyway, £299 is the MRRP. Do online retailers (such as OnlineGolf which appears to be the online arm of American Golf) get a much better deal which allows then to undercut the locals so much?

Pro probably doesn't bother continually updating price labels, expect it wouldn't be full price if you asked.
Anyway in case this helps

No, never. Well, rarely. I bought my umbrella in Rickmansworth golf club, and I'd probably buy tees or a glove in there if I needed one, but never clubs, bag or clothes or anything. As you say, they are almost never the cheapest.

Interesting debate. I recently bought new irons from my pro but bought all my woods on ebay as they were 2nd hand, however, the old saying, use it or lose it springs to mind and those that don't use it will probably be the first ones to moan that there is no pro shop.

yes my pro will price match even offered the same double trade in to get me to purchase the Epic driver off them. got to support the local pro and if you dont ask you wont get.

I mainly don’t..

I did once turn up to a Society event and treat myself to a 4 hybrid off the rack which ironically now is one of my fav clubs when I’m in trouble

It depends on timing tho. I wanted new clubs .. I only went AG for the double trade in because I’d of thrown away £150

If i had the choice I’d of gone to my mate who owns a pro shop but mainly cuz he does mates rates

I’d use him more but anytime I want something someone has normally given me AG vouchers rather than vouchers that can be spent anywhere (known as cash)

Our pro has converted the shop from a regular pro shop to basically an outlet of one of the biggest online dealers in Germany, so you can buy everything for the same price you would pay online. The club also chipped in and subsidizes a lot of items like golf balls, gloves, towels etc. by adding its logo to it and taking some of the costs. It was the only way to keep the pro shop open after two previous owners had failed.

I don't buy much golf gear, but now whenever I buy something, I buy it there.
