After joining a new club at the start of the year, the time has come to step up to the plate this morning. Scratch team trials! As the new (middle aged) kid on the block, the spotlight will be there as I try to show that I can play at leAst a little bit!!

Feeling nervous about playing , which I've never really felt before!! Need to keep the positive thinking going.................

Don't top it, don't top it, don't top, don't top it.............. :)

Good luck RBB, trust your ability and think of all the good shots you have played with each club as uou pull it from the bag - try to enjoy the experience :whoo:

Scratch team trials? Never heard of this, all my past clubs just see who is playing well in medals and offer them a place. Is this different?

GO GET EM RBB! show those stick thin willowy upstarts that us older guys can still get it round!!. so no pressure as we are all depending on you to stand our corner for middle aged golfers ( PS PLEASE DONT WEAR THAT LYCRA TOP )

Anyone anyone? I'm assuming you have to prove you can play over 1 round?

Avoided the top, preferring the pull hook onto the 10th fairway!!!

Drove it well, hit my irons well, putted well.......chipped like a prize tool.

Funny the way things work in this game, hit a shocking chip on the 1st, then seemed to find the worst little muddy lies whenever I missed a green. At least I showed the full array of bad chips, the duff, the chunk and the thin in equal measure :(

still no-ones answered, I'll google it but I gather in England you have to prove yourself over 1 round:mmm:

All the guys who want to play for the league played together to see if a) they're good enough and b) who the could play with.

If you just go on medal scores from previous year you may be banking on people who don't want to play or missing out on some really good match players who don't score great or people that don't enter too many comps or new members or fast improving juniors.

Makes perfect sense to me, and was something I did when I captained the league team at a previous club
