As per title.

I played a Pro V1x with a view to switching to them yesterday. 9 holes and I was very impressed with how the ball performed.

On reflection after my initial trial, although impressed, I did notice the ball had worn pretty drastically even after as few as 9 holes.

Here's a pic

I know most premium balls tend to have softer covers and tend to wear more than say a distance pebble, but, is the above wear about right for a premium ball?

was that a new one or a refinished ball? thats horrific for 9 holes if was a brand new ball. Im pretty harsh on balls and would struggle to get one looking that bad after 9 holes. tend to find the titleists arent the best for durability and definitely lose colour more than some of the others, have found the srixon zstar xv the best imo

Wasn't a spon new one Fundy no. It was in a lot better condition though with very few marks and just some discolouration.

It isn't stamped or labelled as refinished or recycled.

That looks VERY MUCH like a refinished ProV...you can see where the blown over paint finish has simply come off...nothing wrong with refinished balls, but I personally find premium balls nowadays are way more resilient than the old Titleist professionals, tour balatas etc

That does seem a bit of rapid wear for a ProV1X. I use them and unless you attack them with the thin end of your wedge I reckon they last a couple of rounds before starting to look a bit tatty. If I'm playing on my own then I don't care even if turned a lighter shade of beige. For competitions it's a new one every round.

I've just been and grabbed a couple from my shag bag for comparison.

It could be possible you've got some refinished but for me prov1's are dreadful for long lasting and just go dull far too quickly ... But maybe they get thrown out much quicker due to the scuffing that people don't notice as much.

Yep I agree, that ball is almost certainly a refurb. The way the Titleist ink has scuffed off is very common in refurb balls. If you have any doubts, splash out a tenner or so on a sleeve of new ones and compare one after a round.

Its only a wee baw, just peg up another one.

And switch to Callaway.

How many rounds do you chaps get out of a ball? I play mostly Penta and I only get one round before its scuffed and chewed up from wedge play....at which point it either goes back in the bag for use as a provisional, or gets tossed in the practice bag.

Most rounds I play, I tee up a new one. I thought this was normal......

I found that the old Nike One and the new 20XI both scuff up badly. The titleist is the same and I'm more happy with the Z Star, Bridgestone and new TM penta 3 for durability. Mind you at the moment they are all in danger of being one hit wonders

I would say it was a refurb too it looks like under the scuff on the right it looks like the old number is still under the new paint where they havent took it off properly either that or its a cut
