Just wandering how often you guys practice in the winter months. I have set myself a pretty tough target for next year and was wandering how often other people practice.

I go to the range once / twice a week and the putting / chipping area about 2 - 3 times a week or as and when i can fit around work and family.

Just being nosey really!!!

range 2 times mid week hitting most irons and working on my swing, range sat morning going through the bag hitting around 3 to 4 hundred balls then play either sat afternoon just 9 or play sunday 18 holes, putting wise i work on my stroke most nights then a few hours on the green putting and chipping weekend mornings

Try and get out every Saturday for the weekly roll up and play the monthly stableford and medal. Other than that it is range on Saturday pm and on a Sunday to just work on each facet. Going to get some lessons booked for the new year too so I can hit the ground running in for the new season

I practise whenever I can, time is limited though.

Throughout this year I fell into the routine of going up to the course and just playing holes. This has spelt disaster for me as I never did any practise. With practise you get to repeat your swing and groove it. Just playing obviously entails using various clubs as you make your way round.

A few lessons from my pro taught me that practise is necessary to improve in the game.
A day off work today - up to the course and onto the practise area armed with 7 iron and a tube of balls. Concentrated on swinging smoothly and fully. After I felt I'd practised enough I rewarded myself with several holes on the course.
Finished off with a chipping session and all was good with the world!!!

I practice in my back garden chipping 2 or 3 times a week.I play once or twice a week and do a bit of practice before about 60% of rounds I play but always warm up and chip and putt before play. Id say I do serious range type practice about 3 times a year.

When I played off 6 h/c the amount of practice I did alone, caused ructions in my home life let alone the number or rounds I played, often 36 holes on sat and sometimes same again on sunday. In summer I used to play up to 10pm sometimes. It did not make my life very happy, I was too serious about it, eventually I got fed up being annoyed at every little error I made and gave up playing that way, now I have fun every time I play and dont really give a stuff what I score though I am happy when its a good round, I can also see the positive and fun of a poor round, something I couldnt see before.

I practice 3or4 nights in the week for about 2-4 hours (dependent on light, if its cloudy, so gets dark sooner = shorter session).
Over the weekend I will play 36-72 holes depending on other commitments.

I very rarely use the range. I use it before rounds for warming up and that is about it.

I usually practice on the course. If it is quiet I will pick a spot on the tee\fairway\green\in the rough and try 10-20 shots at the green\fairway\hole. I find this much better than the range where its all to easy to spray balls all over the place without focus and a target.
