Ever had one of these days when the practice session went to plan and you enjoyed hitting the golf ball?

After my rather poor ball striking display at Dundonald on Tuesday I headed off to the local practice area today and within five shots I had figured out that I had crept in too close to the ball again. A simple move, standing slightly further away allowed me to "clear the hands" and get through the ball without feeling "stuck" at impact.

I ended up only hitting about 60 balls,(in glorious sunshine) taking my time to pick my target, set up and hit. The confidence soon came back into the swing and I really enjoyed my hour and a half hitting balls.

I finished up with about 20 minutes pitching and overall had a great days golf even although it was only just under 2 hours.

Anyone else ever have days on the practice area that they enjoy even more than the course????

Yeah took new driver shaft for a try out after work hit about a dozen shots (10 great ones) then the pro showed up to give someone a lesson while I knew he watching I hit 2 straight left out off the practice area but ended up hitting about 40 balls mostly straight but very much further than have ever before .
Now I have the whole weekend to worry if I can hit it straight from the tee. Instead of only in the range :p

Superb grips Grumps, they take the wrists right out of play, rock the shoulders, bobs yer uncle fanny's yer aunt!

I am looking forward to some practice over the winter myself. Its going to be the first time that I am going to go to the driving range once a week during the winter. I never go to the driving range so hope that will help me in the long term.

Glad you figured out what was wrong but on Tuesday when you hit that 3 wood it stayed hit. Some great tee balls with it especially the drive at 18 that ended up just short of the bunker on the left....

The question is will it hold up to the pressure when your giving shots away on par 3's ;)

Went out to hit some chips as I'm still struggling. Not sure if it was Bob or someone else who advised me to lift the heel of the ground and play them more as a long putting stroke. Either way it was a lot better and only a handful of semi-fatted ones over the course of 45 minutes. It's funny how confidence can come flooding back and I reverted to a more traditional set up and was pinging them close from all over the chipping green too. The only downside was my bunker shots but that was more of a bit or R&R and off very wet sand so I'm not going to lose too much sleep over it. I can't wait for the weekend now to play in the roll up Saturday and then 36 holes medal in the invite only (competition winners over the last 12 months) Masters event.

If he had the driver we mite have won the money

Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Look that shaft was faulty OK!!! The head fell off!

That was just a friendly warning that the driver got! I'm telling you that shaft was faulty!

I had 2 weeks away from golf while on holiday, went back to the range yesterday and was hitting everything (expected driver) really well. Nice reaxled swing, the sun was out, happy days!

No wonder your no allowed to give youngsters a clip round the ear anymore if that's a friendly warning
