Practicality vs Credibility

i am in the "fore!" camp... (see what i did there...)

I have some neoprene slip on covers with plastic windows to identify the clubs on my MP59's, i like to keep my things looking new and protected so for me £10 covers are a no brainer, it takes less than a 5 seconds to take a cover off and chuck it on the trolley or into my pocket if i'm carrying..

A question for people who dont want iron covers is how many or you have covers on your woods, surely if you like the clatter and the fact they are used you don't need them on your woods either.... discuss....

I got iron covers when I bought my Pro Combos earlier in the year - the ONLY issue I find is that in muddy conditions you have to clean each club head so it is immaculate before putting the cover back on. Or prepare to wash the covers every week.

Apart from that, I wouldn't be without them.

It's just the way it is. Wood headcovers = cool, iron covers = not cool

To even try and rationalise it puts you in the latter:ears:

Further thread hijack! Apologies to the OP. But yes, iron covers and loud trousers are not the way to go! :)

Are you playing with the Ping Zing 2's? What do you think? I think they are really good although the sand iron is going to have to go.

Played last week and a mate with some new cavity back Mizuno clubs was telling me how I should be on Antiques Roadshow with mine and that he could hit his 7 iron further than I could hit my 6. I said of course he could as my 6 iron probably had more loft! Turns out this was true and the argument was settled when we both hit 3 of his 7 irons and I outhit him by 20 yards on every one.

I like having old money lofts. Nostalgic!

Had the Zing 2's all ready to go in the bag for the winter but then won the Benross comp so still strutting about with the new gear at present. Was really looking forward to getting them out on the course and am sure I'll get a chance to soon. I like the idea of letting everyone think they can hit their irons longer than me only to find out my 5 iron is the same clubs as their 7 iron! Also I won't be having trouble deciding which 5 wedges to put in to the bag to compensae for the big gap at the business end of the bag!

The look of the wedges hasn't won me over either but was going to give them a whirl with an open mind, as much as possible anyway!

Interested to hear how you're finding them though Dave.

I have those little neoprene ones as well. Slip of into pocket or on bag, hit the ball, give the club head a wipe with the towel or the outside of the cover, slip back on and done. No hassle. The numbered or zip up ones I don't think I'd be bothered with. Use them mainly to reduce bag chatter because the noise annoys me. One thing though is remembering to remove them it was a damp day so the clubs dry properly.

The windows of the neoprene ones will crack and break.
The zip ones, the zips ends will snap off.
