Poulter family crisis

and yes it is a very poor show from BA maybe he could of took the down grade though so his wife would of had assistance from their nanny.

He booked 6 seats. Wife, nanny and 4 kids = 6. He wasn't flying with them as he's playing in the USPGA so couldn't take the downgrade himself.

Agree with Rooter 100% on this. The man should get what he pays for & is right to be annoyed.
No problem with him having a nanny either.
He's on the road a lot & can obviously afford to get help for his mrs.
It all boils down to jealousy really.

I don't disagree but I don't think the point is that he's rich, or didn't get what he paid for but that he chose to share this information with the public. Most will think he's being ever so slightly a whinger. Yes, he's right and has every reason to complain to BA but is he expecting some sort of public sympathy for the terrible situation his wife found herself in?

Don't get me wrong, I love Poults and he speaks his mind so every credit, but I doubt if this is one of his best Twitter moments. I just find it funny.....especially some of the responses.

At the end of the day he employs a nanny for a reason and because he can afford it and is probably still paying her while she sits in economy doing nothing, not sure why this should upset so many people. Jealousy is a terrible thing

Complaining on twitter is also one of the best ways to get something done about problems like this especially if you have a few followers and it goes viral.

He will get BA contacting him pretty soon I imagine.

Simple solution would of been for his Mrs to downgrade and leave the nanny to look after the 4 kids.

However, if your Mrs cant be ar5ed looking after her won 4 kids then you shouldnt have had them in the first place!

I've heard of first world problems. This is an upgrade from that - 1 percenter problems. I bet it never happens to Justin Rose. He has a sponsorship deal with BA.

I used to travel a lot of long haul with BA and was never downgraded but I can imagine I wouldn't have been that pleased. Business to World Traveller Plus is a bit of a step down. First to business much less so. Of course Ian couldn't care less about the nanny so long as she looked after the kids. He'll get a refund of the difference in ticket price and probably a bunch of Avios points.

Anyway a travelling nanny is not a perk I am personally familiar with but I have seen other 1 percenters who have booked first for themselves and a lower class for the kids and nanny. Ian could have asked for his kids to be downgraded too or should have booked first and then the downgrade would only gave been to business.

Thinking something very similar. Also all those Gaza tweet's are ridiculous. Things there are terrible but surely that shouldn't mean someone can't also complain about something that's effecting their life, no matter how insignificant this might be.

It's like saying that food critics are terribly inconsiderate because there are people starving in the world.

This is why I dislike twitter.

It's just uninteresting people boring anyone that will listen about mindleless garbage that they'd tell their friends if they had any.

Flying home from holiday last week and when the family in front of us got to the gate the father said goodbye to the mother and kids as he went up the first class air bridge whilst they had to suffer business class.

Made me and Mrs SAPCOR laugh as we struggled with our two kids to economy ....

I've met Mrs Poulter as she was up at Sand Martins a few times when my wife use to work there. She does come across as someone use to trading off the "don't you know who my hubby is" line. Whatever class was booked though the fact remains his kids, wife and nanny all paid for those seats and it's BA's problem I'd have stood my ground as I had a right to my class of ticket.

If you read through the tweets its also says BA will only refund £200 in case of a downgrade. Bloody cheek if you ask me, I don't care how rich he is, he has every right to kick up about it.

I like Poulter a lot but what an idiotic thing to tweet.

I agree, silly to compare this with kids suffering in Gaza but with all the things going on in the world getting stuck in business class with your own kids isnt much of a problem is it really?

I dont see why he is getting the abuse? he is quite open and breath of fresh air on twitter, he tweets "normal" everyday stuff.

Yes, he can afford to fly his family first class, he has paid for 1st class tickets, so what? he has earned his money, so why shouldnt he fly first class and have a nanny? i would if i had his cash! I seriously doubt he was after sympathy, just venting his frustrations. I still cant get over, how arsey people get on twitter.. its more amusing sometimes to watch the haters!

Ive no problem with his money and agree he's usually good value on twitter. But complaining because his wife has to look after her own kids? For me that's the ridiculous part!

Very true, but any one with an ounce of common sense would realise a person in his privileged position is open to the abuse he got. There are ways and means to complain, but he seems to enjoy letting the world know he's very wealthy and in doing so the majority of the time, he just comes across as an arrogant prig. A very talented golfer who just likes to rub people up the wrong way just to get a reaction.

Good old Poults - always has had the tact of a sledgehammer

Would never call him arrogant - very confident maybe but guess there is a thin line

Poulter is a perfect example of someone who has work very very hard to get where he is - he wasn't sure if he would make and even after winning a few tournaments started his own clothing company to ensure he had himself a nest egg

He does a hell of a lot of work for kids back here and at home and is a nice guy

Actually you don't. Read the terms and conditions of carriage. The airline may overbook flights and bump and/or downgrade passengers. You only have the right to get to your destination.

A bit of protesting is fine, but they can say it is either a downgrade or wait for the next flight.

BA staff are very used to the DYKWIA line and have a series of withering replies available. The best one is to make an announcement on the tannoy that they have a passenger who does not know who they are and ask for anyone who can help to step forward.

This is why he put it on twitter loads of discussion and bad publicly as he feels hard done by .
No doubt his Bessie mate JR will sort some free business class ticket for there next trAns Atlantic trip as a sort off "goodwill gesture"

I suppose how you react depends on what you think of him. To some he's a lad done good, he went from selling Mars bars in a pro shop to living the dream at the top levels of golf. He's a Ryder cup hero, a natty dresser and his twitter feed is always good value.

To others he's a lairy classless golfer who wears awful clothes in a pathetic attempt to look a bit different, a look which is swallowed up by the beige M&S chino wearing golfing brigade. He has forgotten his roots and lost touch with reality, trades on a couple of good Ryder Cups and loves bragging about how rich he is and how much his cars/house/carpets cost. And until he actually wins a major tournament he should shut up, take a leaf out of Rory's book and act a bit more humble.

Pays your price and takes your chances I suppose. ;)
