Currently selling a club on Marketplace, it's been on for a couple of weeks with no interest. Reduced the price yesterday, and had a message from someone this morning asking if i can post it to them?

Is this a no-no? The guy sounds genuine, his facebook profile looks ok, plenty of friends, posts and work details. He is only just over an hour away from me.

Tough one, I personally wouldn’t post something Ive sold on Marketplace, just Google the amount of scams there are out there. Item never arrived, item arrived damaged, wrong item sent etc etc. You need to do some research and find the best payment method and best way to send if you are going down that route, I’d offer to meet half way or just say I can drop it off in person for the cost of petrol.

I haven't used Facebook marketplace much, but can you not get him to send the amount before you post it? Then obviously keep receipts and tracking info of the postage so there's no comeback.

I could, but there are loads of stories about payments being reversed etc. Plus I'd rather he seen the club in the flesh and said he was happy with the condition, rather than raise a complaint after receiving it.

How? If it's a simple bank transfer how would he get it back?

The latter is fine anyway, if you're not comfortable with the sale then don't do it. It's entirely up to you.

PayPal always side with the buyer even if you have proof of delivery. I think the only way is for the buyer to pay with bank transfer or friends and family on PayPal but then he opens himself up to the seller being a total douche. Not that this one is 😬🤣

Yeah, as above I was just thinking bank transfer rather than PayPal.

My inclination is not to post it, I've pointed out he is only an hour away, hopefully he will be happy to drive, or at least meet halfway.

Of course you can post it.
Post it parcelforce 48 it costs 12.95
Get him to pay you by PayPal Goods and services.
Once he’s paid for it he’s covered and you’re protected.
If you offer friends and family he’s not protected so I doubt he would buy .

I have with no problems .
Probably mentioned already - only accept payment by Bank Transfer or Paypal as a gift.

If the person starts saying their is a problem with your paypal account and they cannot do it is a scam.

Depending on the value verses fuel/time, meet him half way and take the cash.

I’ve sold through market place with no issues always collected, I’ve also purchased albeit low value lines (sub £50) and theres been no issues, but my intention was never to scam where as others have the agender from the get go.

What about seeing the club he’s a member at and posting to his pro shop? A scammer wouldn’t risk the embarrassment with his own club.

Yeh, I wouldn’t post, if I was willing to post I’d have stuck it on eBay for the cover and ease.

As above, you can but I just wouldn’t bother, someone else will come along and buy it.
