Portsmouth FC

I think the blame has to start with the FA and their "fit and proper person" test.
4 or 5 owners we've had since Milan left and only one of them has had any money, some have had criminal pasts and yet they STILL pass the test!!

Can't disagree with that, Ronnie Biggs would probably have passed it.
Good win for you today, and with Northampton gettingva tonking its given you a bit of breathing space

A lot of it is down to the ground. We could make The Dell seriously hostile at times. As nice as St marys is its just that, nice. A bit like all modern stadia that just makes it difficult to ramp up the atmosphere.
And heres a pic of there much vaunted away 'support' at Wigan a couple of years ago :D

That picture is taken at the warm up 30 minutes before the game. Our place is usually empty at that time, but amazingly fills up at the last minute. Might be the quality of the beer that keeps them away from their seats until the last minute.

Plastics to me are supporters that suddenly appear at matches when their team is doing well. No sign of them when mid table in the championship, 1st division etc, but get promoted to the Premier league they are snapping up tickets like no there is no tomorrow. Reading has a lot of them, but Pompey seem to have a hardcore of support whatever division they are in, and don't need to rely on plastics. I have a feeling that Southampton have a good few plastics as well. Not sure what your gates were like when you were relegated from the Championship ?

I have been to quite a few Pompey games with mates, and the atmosphere is amazing. Since we moved to the Mad Stad we struggle to get even a chant going.:(

Really? First game Ive ever seen where both teams warm up in full kit with the ref in the middle!;):D
You are right. My eye sight is failing along with other parts. Apologies.

I would mention though that it was a Tuesday game at Wigan, and Pompey were already relegated. 100 Pompey fans made more noise than the 14,000 Wigan supporters though.:)

You won/bought/hired purchased the FA cup under Milan didn't ya? All with players you couldn't afford. Even without the further 4/5 dodgy owners. He sank the ship.

Percentage based on capacity of stadium ?

I don't see how % maters. If Pompey had 100% you cloud hypothesis that maybe they could sell more. But been as they didn't sell out. What makes you think that if they had 20k seas left people would suddenly think "ooh, I better go to the game"?

Pompey did sell out a lot of games to home supporters, but the ground capacity was not met due to the seats that have to be given to away fans. Normally at least 2000. The likes of Wigan would only take up hundreds of seats rather than thousands.

We have the same problem at Reading when we were in the premiership. 4000 seats given to away fans, whole of one end, but apart from when we played the the big boys, a huge number of seats were empty. We had plans to increase the stadium to 32,000, but just as well we didn't after getting relegated. We have our full share of plastic fans.:mmm:

He was still responsible for some on the big wages signed by players that won the cup. How a 15k stadium could pay those wages is beyond me?

Once again, you're wrong. Of the players we had when he left there were 3 or 4 that won the cup with us. David James, sol Campbell, begovic, Pedro mendes and glen Johnson on loan.

Kranjcar signed on his watch too. So 5 from 11. Hardly a minority. And also some of the biggest earners. He wasn't the main culprit, but he blatantly overspent too. 3/4 players and you mention 5.......
