Hi all,

This month, we want to know how many gross eagles you've had since you started playing golf. We'd also like to hear stories of near misses or any funny anecdotes!

Hope all is well,

Nick

Had 2 eagles back to back when I used to play at Charnock Richard golf course (now shut, about to become Wigan Atheltic's training ground) on the 6th and 7th. It's was the only time I ever hit the 6th green in 2 (raised green with pond in front). On the 7th I chipped in from about 30 yards.

I was denied bragging rights due to one of the other lads getting his 1st hole in 1 on the 17th. Still, got a free pint.

Have had more in my 2 years at Shooters Hill than 18 years at Aldersey, most recent one was a thinned chip from below the level of the green on the 8th that bounced once before thumping the flag and fighting it's way in the hole at some pace!

My doubles partner once made an Eagle at a par 5 on my old course.
A good drive left about 220-230 to the pin.
A green keeper was mowing the rough around the green.
He waved us on and parked about 30 yards left of the green.
Andy smacked his 3 wood but got a bit of hook on it.
It bounced a couple of times, smacks into the front tyre of the mower and pinged on to the green, finishing about 10 feet from the hole.....
He bought the drinks!!

Trying to remember the ones I've had.
Not blowing my own trumpet but I'm in excess of 21, probably nearer 30.......

literally 2, one driving the green of a par 4 (it was downhill and downwind!) and latest was a chip in on a short par 4 causing me to make a very strange whooping noise much to the annoyance of my playing partner! I have been on any number of par 5's in 2 and the lack of eagles here says a lot about my putting!

I eagled our Par 4 17th. 278 yards The fairway is lower than the tee but the Green is a similar level. The week before I hit a pure three wood to about 6 foot and missed the putt, but the following week I hit it to about 10 foot which was just off the green. Read the left to right across the hill putt and it dropped.

That's my one and only Eagle.

Even though i've been playing this game for about 10 years now i can honestly say that i've never ever hit a regulation par 5 in 2 so eagle potential is minimal for me . I have however made just the one eagle holing a 5 iron from roughly 170 yards at the 3rd of my old club FOrrester Park. Was hitting straight into the sun so didn't even see it go in !!!!!

I tend to have a few each season, mainly on reachable par 5's with 1 putt or chip in's. Only had a couple on par 4's, and no hole in ones.

None of mine have been particularly entertaining or interesting unfortunately. But my sister had one the other weekend (her first one), she thinned the ball on a severely downhill hole, it got wrapped up in the flag and then fell in the hole. It would have probably been a lost ball but for the flag.

As I've only been playing Golf for 5 months I've never hit an Eagle, but nailed a Birdie on a par 4 and celebrated like I'd just won the Masters!!!

2 albeit holes in One on Par 3 holes.

I did once sink my second shot on a Par 4, but since it was a bucket hole on a forward temporary green, it doesn't count.

A few years ago we stood on the 18th tee & watched one of our mates hole a full 6 or 7 iron for an eagle 2. When we congratulated him he announced that it was his third eagle of the round, he'd had threes at two of the par fives. He was playing off 10 at the time & not a particularly strong player. Can't think many other amateurs have done that.

I'm still a golfing noob, I've made birdie once and rarely make par. Have only properly got back into playing in the past few months though so taking things slow!

I had 2 on the trot once round our place. Second hole hole was a regular eagle on a par 5, up the middle then onto the green close and holed it.The second was on our par 4 3rd, drive ended in the rough on the next hole and flopped it blind over a couple of tall Castlewellen golds 2 hops and in I was told. I actually started birdie eagle eagle birdie to be 6 under gross after four holes, needless to say I ended up 6 over when reality kicked in.

My first was actually back when I played with my cousin as a teen.

I did one summer of golf with a friend from school, long before I took up the game properly in 2010. Back in the 90s it was £26 pounds for as much golf as you like over a summer at Laceby Manor! It was fun but could only usually manage about 7 or 12 holes and lost loads of balls. Was a fun way to spend the summer.

That year I got my first golf clubs for my birthday, a cheap set but was enough to play in the summer time with friends. The following year I played at a different club, Grimsby Golf Club. Not long into that summer holiday I hit a stellar drive down the 5th from the yellow tees, then nailed a 5 wood to 6 foot. I rolled that baby in for a 3 aged 14 (or something like that).

I rarely played after that, usually only a few times a year when the weather was nice over the summer or a friend or relative wanted a round. I retained a mild interest in the game, with odd range sessions to have fun. One odd round I drove the green on the 4th hole of the 9 hole course at the Grimsby Golf Centre (What was "Swingtime") Nailed it about 260 over the corner to about 8 feet. Rolled that baby in for my 2nd while not even taking it seriously. I had holed two before I was 17!

A long time passed before I would do it again, in a very different style. I actually took the game up properly in 2010, the year after I was playing a local short course (Otterbourne Golf Centre) their 6th hole is a tight par 4, OB all right and deep rough left. I hit a decent tee shot to the middle. From 70 yards I wedged home onto a difficult green that slopes away from you. Its pretty much impossible to hit it close, this one just dropped!

I only managed one at my home course, in a practice round on the 3rd, a par 5, at South Winchester. I nailed a drive and a 6 iron with the wind at my back. I rolled home from 6 feet. I actually did something similar again while there and missed, tap in birdie though!

I would wait a couple of years more for another, on the 8th at the now closed New Malton Club. A boring driver, 3 iron and a putt. I remember doing it again but it was when I was playing 2 balls and it was the 2nd of my 2 balls, I don't think I should count that one.

My second eagle was on the first at my old club.

There were three of us and we had driven off the first like the red arrows, me right one friend left and the other down the middle. I could not see the hole from where I was 120 yards out just the top of the flag, I played the shot and knew it was close. As I approached the green I could see a ball about three foot away, my friend was smiling and saying what a great shot he hit as he was three foot from the pin, as I got to the green I said no that's mine he said it was his and I would be in the bunker. When I got to the pin there was a ball in the hole. My friends face was a picture as I retrieved my ball saying yours maybe a nice shot but not as good as mine, his face was a picture.

Oddly I had three eagles all within about four months of each other nothing since. Last was about eighteen months ago.
