playing relaxed and chilled - works wonders

so after Tuesdays episode I have taken the rest of the week off to chill out. Weather was pretty good today so thought sod it, might aswell play a few relaxed holes at the course. 1st up no cigs smoked on the way there (which is a 1st), arrived and there was a club match on, no probs, bit of chipping and putting for 20 mins.

1st hole 424 par 4, 3 wood to 220 following the smoothest easiest swing I think I have ever made on the tee. just short with my 2nd, chip and 2 putts 5 net 4.

2nd hole 160yd par 3, easy 4 iron (wind against) not full swing, pin high 2putt par net 2

3rd hole 140yd par 3 green but short 2 putt par net 2

didnt play the 4th used the 13th tee instead (9 hole with seperate tee blocks), 435yd par 4, tee shot (3 wood) I had 195 left, hybrid just short chip and 2 putts for a 5 net 3

5th my nemesis, tee shot left me 129, pw to 15ft, lipped the putt for birdie but made par.

6th par 4, decent tee shot, 2nd was short, chip and 2 putts for a 5 net 4

I jumped the 7th as there was a 4 ball and made another par on 8 and parred the par 5 9th. 5 on 10 (net 4), then went bogey/par on 11 and 12

I also drank water on every hole, didnt have one cig and just swung within myself - 6 pars and 5 bogeys

lets hope I can repeat for the club champs

Must be sooooo easy to chill when you get shots on 160 & 140yrd holes.... I'd be so laid back I'd be lying down!

I know James but I only get 2 on 3 holes now so I am getting there

I find par 3's the bloody hardest tbh. Anything 180+ and I am stuffed lol.

It's the way forward mate. I'm now playing that way but haven't had a comp other than the first round of our club championship which I am sitting tied for 3rd 5 shots back. I don't expect to win it and I'm going to go out and play the way I have been and enjoy the round. Got good company for it so really looking forward to it. Better to go up a club and swing easy than try and skin the ball with a club that might not get there anyway.

yep, if I cant reach then I wont try to. I am also going a club longer with an easier swing rather than push it to the max.

I may cream the odd one long but so do the pro's so hey ho
